You do know if you don't have health care, you can legally get fined. I don't have no money for such a thing.
My opinions are so useless, I don't even listen to them.
I don't know if you guys forget, but there actually IS a politics forum.
Anyways I think socialized health care is good for the majority of the population who have shitty jobs and no health insurance. There's a show called 30 Days made by the guy who made Supersize me, where he does certain things for 30 days. One of the episodes was 30 days in prison, one was 30 days on mininum wage, it really changed my mind to alot of things to see how bad it is.
...and I suppose he is Obama bin Laden too right?
You made an account yesterday just to post this?
I heard McCain is still fighting for it.

OH WAIT!
I can't believe how selfish people opposing this are, with no idea what the worth of money really is. Insane that it wasn't pushed through decades ago, also with the whole 'what about state money being used for abortions' shows how oppressive and old fashioned the majority of America is.

Pray you don't get dropped by your insurance company if you get seriously sick, then.
Get dropped, and you'll become just like "everyone else"
Also, you're actually being forced to pay for everyone else with social security, medicare payments, and taxes.
You know, that stuff that gets yanked out of your paycheck?
Oh, I'm sorry. You're obviously a teenager that doesn't actually do any real work.
Shut up.

This, this, and this. Seriously the only people who actually think Obama is a communist are those god damned redneck republicans down south. Do you want to know why they think he's a communist? No it's not the healthcare bill but two things.
He's not Bush
Racism.
I have not found ONE republican that could prove a valid point in this discussion. All they say is that he's a communist.

Here's an analogy my Social teacher told me to understand the DIFFERENCE between communism and socialism.
Are all people from California American? Yes. Are all Americans from California? No
Relate that to Socialism and Communism: Are all Communists Socialists? Yes. Are all Socialists Communists? NO!
Socialism = the ENTIRE left wing. Liberalism is just closer to the centre of it, and Communism is at the very end.
Now that you know the difference...
Free healthcare will be a struggle, especially since America has such a large population. Up here in Canada, Medicare is what makes us proud to be Canadians. You can walk into a hospital with a broken leg or needing life-saving surgery and you get it for FREE... IF you have Health insurance...
But to get health insurance you just sign a few forms... maybe pay a few dollars and you get it! With little to no money out of your pocket.
When it comes down to a life-or-death choice to undergo surgery, do you REALLY care if the equipment is cheap? If it saves your life, do you really care?

He's been Communist ever since he was elected President.
I think I agree with Ejit the most.

you think the quality of healthcare will be the same? Of course it fucking wont! You think doctors and nurses will be getting paid enough for it? How will they afford equipment which is nessasary for saving lives? you know how much these things cost? A fucking arm and a leg! What about medicines and drugs?
Good intentions but this wont work, equipment will break, medicines will vanish and they will turn to Obama saying where did it all go? Free healthcare plan is a fancy way of saying NO healthcare plan.
Nice one obama....nice one...
It comes down to this.
You've got to give a little to get a lot.
Sure, Government is interfering and stepping in.
"that's against the constitiution."
Well, if you wanna be healthy are you not willing to give up some rights?
It's not like you're losing the first ten rights given to you.
as of free healthcare It's not free. Taxes go up.
Do you know what taxes do?
Taxes fund the government.
In the next ten years this will become effective.
In next ten years I'm 28.
I can only benefit.

Yeah, and there's actually more maturity and civilized discussion on the bill in this thread than there is in the same thread in Politics. Shocking, isn't it? @_@

Anyway, my two cents: there are parts of the bill I like and parts of it that I don't...
-No public option: not everyone who liked this idea is a freeloader or an immigrant. Some of us don't have insurance because we honestly can't afford it. (I'll get to Wade's points on this lower down.) If I dropped out of school to enter the workforce, my medical expenses would send me below the poverty line, making me more weight on the welfare system, which means the taxpayer is covering a lot more than just my health care.
-No denial for pre-existing conditions: do you know how hard it is just to keep insurance you already have under those circumstances? I'll pay what I can, but don't punish me for something beyond my control. (For the record, type I diabetes is genetic.)
-Mandatory coverage: don't like it. Coverage is and ought to be the choice of the consumer. That said, I know firsthand that you don't think you need insurance until you need it, so at least provide some sort of incentive.
-No coverage for illegal immigrants: naysayers like to forget this part.
-Economic implications: I don't like higher taxes any more than the next person. That said, I'm willing to sacrifice a little of what I earn if it means covering someone who can't afford it themselves. Why? Because I would want nothing less for myself in the same position. The sooner that person gets well, the sooner they can get back to work and feed into the economy.

What the bill didn't cover...
-Tort reform: Wade brought this up earlier, and I agree with him. True, a doctor actually guilty of malpractice should be punished to the fullest extent of the law; but a good doctor shouldn't have to fear a lawsuit, and bad doctors should pay out of pocket without the whole hospital being held liable for what they did. Reduce the expenses on the hospital, reduce their need for money from insurers, who can then safely lower premiums.
-Drug company spending: roughly one-fifth of money spent by drug corporations is advertising--not just to consumers, but to doctors as well. A good portion of this advertising crosses the line of "sensible marketing" into the territory of "hammer it into people's heads." Cut advertising by 10%, and the budget can be redistributed to lower prescription costs, putting less pressure on insurers and in turn opening their budget to lower premiums.
-Market competition: Three insurance conglomerates control 80% of the business nationwide. This encourages competition about as much as Windows cornering the PC market. A stronger private market is more likely to drive costs down as businesses compete with each other for consumers.
-Premium hikes: The people who need insurance most are the ones who pay the most for it becaus of premium hikes. My solution is to set up the system so you pay higher premiums when you're not sick, then lower them as able when your client needs the money. This way you're only paying a little more for your care over the long term and giving yourself a safety cushion instead of paying through the nose later on.

I was hoping to hear thoughts on these points in the Politics forum, but then the discussion devolved into mindless party-lining and blame contests. Does anyone here have any thoughts?
Free healthcare isn't in the Healthcare bill that was passed anyway.....

I don't see whats the big deal. Free health care for everybody.... YAY!

Fyi, a good deal of Americans are actually for this, me included. I feel like I'm the only damn person in my state who does actually want it though. Every person I know is like "OMG I'LL HAVE TO PAY A LITTLE BIT MORE IN MY TAXES FOR FREE HEALTH CARE OMG".
I love selfish people. <3
Fucking hell, have any of you people saying that he's communist even read any history book?
Like, ever?

Can you think of a better one?
Yeah sure, taxes go up, either in GST/SST, Income Tax, what have you. By the next few generations, no one will really notice in slight increase in taxes and reap the benefits of the medicare system.
Ideas evolve, In Canada, what was considered Communist in the 30's (Health Care) Evolved into a liberal idea.
Oh yeah, I DO have to blame the media for making people believe that Health Care is communist... Just listen to THIS propaganda (at the beginning of the video)
Take it to the Politics forum you cocks.
