1.2 GAME DESCRIPTION

Black Mesa (formerly Black Mesa: Source) is a Half-Life 2 total conversion remaking Valve Software's award-winning PC game, Half-Life. Utilizing the Source engine, Black Mesa will reintroduce the player as Doctor Gordon Freeman, along with the original cast of memorable characters and environments seen in Half-Life. Black Mesa was built and founded on the basis that Half-Life: Source was inadequate as the Source engine port of Half-Life, regardless of the intentions of Valve Software. As such, Black Mesa was founded to fully reconstruct the Half-Life universe utilizing Source to its fullest potential in terms of art detail, level sizes and code features. This total conversion will not require Half-Life: Source to play - only a copy of any Source Engine game installed on Steam. It should be noted that the project is being built from the ground up and is not a simple port of Half Life maps and models into the Source Engine. The idea is to remake the storyline used in Half Life into a new polished Source Engine version with new models, maps, voice acting and textures.

Is anyone else totally psyched for this? The original Half-Life was possibly my favourite game ever, so I'm extremely excited to see a version of that game with updated graphics and physics. Discuss and post updates about the upcoming Black Mesa game here.

It's cool so far, but I got some complaints:

too easy

Maybe it's just because I beat that game 40+ times, but I find everything to be really easy.

And the guns (especially the MP5) are overpowered. Also too much magnum ammo.

Are you playing on normal or hard and did you turn off autoaim? I found it fairly challenging, at least the military enemies.

I'm about to start playing now and it's 1AM. I only started downloading it a couple hours ago. Had to make sure I got done what needed to be done before starting. Here we go...

Well I can't progress because I have 2 health and there are no health packs whatsoever. I am at the beginning of the game.
