Well, it was either male and female models but very few options for both, or only male and a lot of options for them.
They chose the latter, and, well, even if there are a lot of female gamers, they're definitely not half the "gaming population", which is what the devs apparently care about...things might change in the future, but for now I don't see female models in online FPS games being the norm.
I'm not saying that I agree with what they did, I'm just trying to make you understand why they did it.

And a female person can get rather big, strong enough to wield all these heavy two handed weapons.

Well, to be honest some of those are too huge for both...

Considering the ability to choose what sex you are is an incredibly basic option in most games, for a game to have a high level of customisability to leave out gender is weird at best. I don't see why girls being in the game would be unrealistic or distracting.

They need to teach kids in school the difference between publisher and developer.

Looks like a pretty interesting game. As soon as I read that it was developed by Bethesda, I immediately wanted to go out and buy Fallout 3 and Oblivion...shouldn't of traded them in :(

Okay, I pre-ordered the game, I should get it by Friday-Saturday.
I hope it turns out to be good because it certainly has potential.

Is that Morgan Freeman in the trailer? Anyway I'm interested in this game, but I am not convinced. If Brink can live up to its claim and stand out amongst the FPS, I will definitely pick it up. I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude on this one.

Yep. I can't play online yet since the PSN is down, but the story mode is allright. The AI are pretty stupid, but it's not a deal breaker like the folks over at IGN and 1up are saying.

Oh snap, I just saw my brother online listed as playing Brink. Give it a week or two until he's done with it and then I'll get to play for free.

I'll be honest though, the closer this game got to release the less I was looking forward to it and from what I've heard it wasn't exactly received all that well. I'll probably give it a shot at some point, but I have so many unfinished games that I need to play through as well.

I got it and it's fairly bad...such a dissapointment.

I can only talk about the singleplayer so far but the gameplay in the multiplayer will be almost the same except with some fun added through the people but it's essentially the same mechanics and that sucks.

What I can say so far:
The bots are dumb as shit and fuck everything up. Examples: Your team is supposed to retrieve a data sample, they run to it, pick it up, get shot, repeat. Also medics often run to you to heal you, completely ignoring the 10 enemies around them, which turn them to bloody pulps of misery. They also don't hold a candle to the enemy bots in general, which is understandable since they have to manage certain tasks while the enemy team just shoots everything that moves. lol

The movement system by the way is far from being as revolutionary as advertised. It's your basic shooter template with auto-jumping/climbing, that's it. Wow, big deal.

Oh, did I tell you about the ridiculously little amount of damage you can take? You have a pretty big hp bar but when you face an enemy, who suddenly came around a corner, prepare to be shot down in a millisecond. It's like this big bar stands for 2 hp or something, you just go down instantly and I already told you how fucking bad the medics are.

All of this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy Brink at all but don't have high expectations. Look at the metascore of it on sites like metacritic and the like, the ratings will tell you what to expect from this. It's mediocre at best, some great ideas badly implemented.

My two cents.
Sorry for all the rage but the game has angered me a lot >:|

Sometimes I do this in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Those Medic just want their heal scores really bad!

I'm really enjoying the game so far, it's almost like Call of Duty but more team work based, also not so repetitive and a lot more original, I really like the SMART parkour thing and earning experience is addictive. The customization isn't as great as I thought it would be but it's still pretty good.

The downsides are that the campaign isn't really that interesting (honestly multiplayer campaign is just a wholoe lot better) and there are a lot of bugs and class balancing issues. There is also a bit of a lack in variety but Team Fortress 2 also started off like that so I've heard.

The game has lots of potential and I'm having fun with it so far and one of the best parts is that since it's new everyone is about similar in skill level and I find that instead of me getting owned all the time I'm the one topping the scoreboards.

I feel the exact same way. I just want to actually be able to connect to a game session. They said they were going to update it yesterday, which they did. It's a little better as far as i can tell, but still needs some work. When they give an actual download patch i'll be happy. Plus theyre giving away the first DLC package for free cuz they feel bad about the connectivity issues. So, thus far, they have kept my interest for the time being. I'm just really hoping this isn't a repeat of Homefront.

Based on what I've heard so far the game is pretty much unfinished (WHY DID THEY RELEASE IT EARLY FFS), buggy, has a VERY shitty playerbase who doesn't know how to use classes and really retarded AI.
I hope they fix it as soon as they possibly can, because they're going to lose half their players if they don't do something fast.

The operative class is a little bit unbalanced but fun to play, disguise as someone, go up to someone in the enemy team who is taking cover then shoot them in the head to death, then run like hell.

Medic is ridiculously easy to earn XP with and I hope they fix this. Also I kind of like the soundtrack in the game.

Well I've been playing and it seems to be every popular FPS mashed into one, i.e. Halo, COD and Team Fortress, you have a sort of Halo movement system without the jump mechanisms, you have the COD switching of weapons and more realistic guns and you have the Team Fortress teamwork emphasis with specific classes for the objectives.

I like how the AI, whenever you explore and find a new path to flank the enemy, it remembers the path and goes with it as well. The main thing I don't like though is because of the emphasis on movement so much random shit happens like someone sneaking up behind you.

I don't usually play FPS's, aside from Fallout 3. Actually that brings me to another point, the "customize your look" gimmick, I don't see the point, I rarely care how my enemies look and the gun fights are not casual enough for me to take a second to admire the look. Fallout 3 on the other hand gives you more freedom to customize your look in many senses, for one everyone looks human not those horse headed people in Brink, one positive thing about not having females, you could've also changed the anatomy of your skull in Fallout 3, on top of this while you don't get tatoo's there's so many clothing options at your disposal.

Anyway I've only played a few hours and I'm not really enjoying it but that was the same impression I've had with all my favorite games the first few hours.

I must say, the more I started hearing about this game, the more I thought that it wasn't going to be as good as I imagined it would be. That's been a half-and-half. (Even with Bethesda being the producers instead of the developers, I still knew the game would have glitches.)

- The AI on easy really isn't great at all: Sometimes they'll just completely ignore the main objective and focus on a simple area where almost nothing is happening. AI medics when tasked to reviving you sprint as fast as they can towards you regardless of other enemies: They die about 50% of the time. So... sometimes it's better just to wait to respawn.

- The levelling up is addictive: Every time you level up you gain access to new items of clothing (if you're into that kind of stuff, I know most of you aren't), can gain a new ability/perk (once you've unlocked it by ranking up) and when you rank up you get access to new perks/abilities.

- Nothing is too overpowered or unbalanced. Seriously, when I got my first victim dead within a third of a second with a minigun I thought that the minigun was just another complete noob dream. I tried out other weapons and, when all the bullets do hit the target, they die at roughly the same rate, maybe a little quicker, maybe a tenth of a second slower. Most perks you purchase also don't have a drastic effect: Health boosts still are helpful by that little but, but it's not "OHMYGODHE'SGOTAHEALTHBOOSTHE'LLTAKEAGES TOKILL!!".

- The game almost makes you try out different character classes or play as a team. You can get XP just for changing to the class needed for the primary objective, you mostly get more XP for buffing other players, giving ammo, boosting other peoples health and disguising yourself (I once got 126 XP just for giving one person extra ammo since he was almost empty). Kills only get you about 20 XP.

Overall, the game still needs some glitches to be fixed and some other improvements, but I like it a lot. Maybe even some DLC to keep it fresh.

So I finally got the game (delivery was a week late), and I have to say that I pretty much agree with what everyone says about it.
Yes, it's quite innovative, and yes, there's a lot of potential, but goddamit, you can't release a game like this.
The sound is just unacceptably buggy, and the graphics, especially clipping and textures, aren't working perfectly either.
There's also something else I don't get...why can't you customize your character inbetween matches, and why do you need to start over (with the levelling and such) if you create a new one, since everything from class to faction to customization can be changed on your main one...
I do like this game, but I can't wait for a massive patch..

I disagree with everyone else, I love this game. I've found the AI's to actually not be half bad, and while the medics do tend to ignore enemies, they make it to me more often than not. A few people complain about the game being to hard. They apparently don't know how you're supposed to play the game. It seems to me that in order to not die constantly, you have to react quick. Run around the corner into and enemy? Slide and knock that bitch over.
The game lags like everyone says, but I think people kind of exaggerate. It's just every once in awhile it lags pretty hard for a few seconds, no big deal. Of course, this might just seem like nothing to me because I played Crysis on a computer that could barely run it.
Basically, I think that this is a great game, and people are just spoiled and expect every game to run perfectly every time. It's a big game with a lot happening pretty fast, and it's a lot for your console or PC to handle.
