It's not just another boring FPS game trying to get a share of the market. This game introduces an interesting new feature to the genre. It has what could be described as "free running" implemented. Depending on where you are looking upon reaching an obstacle, you can climb over it or slide under it. My description may not be the best, but if you watch some of the videos on the official site, which I will link, I think you will be intrigued.
I think this game looks like it will bring something unique to the FPS genre, which is starting to become overdone and predictable. I'm definitely going to be keeping my eye on this title.

I'm intrigued by the game. I might buy it depending on how it looks closer to release. Otherwise I will definitely rent this one out and see if it's worth a purchase.
I'm on Last.fm!
Also, I used to be YeOldeSierra. Now I'm just Sierra :3
I hope they bring out some form of beta. It looks interesting but I guess it all depends on how it plays.
I've been seeing this game peeking its head around the industry for a while now and it the style of the game looks pretty cool as does the whole size thing (Small medium large) but I believe that it is going to fail miserably in the story department, where its online all the time in an open world where some enemies are actual people, it sounds cool on paper but I fear it won't run as smoothly as they hope.
People keep saying it looks like other games.
Okay it looks like Mirrors edge+Borderlands+Shadow Run with a bit of Team fortress 2 and CoD.
Death cures a fool
I want it to be awesome so badly. I just need to play a demo before I make up my mind to buy it.

I think it looks awesome, but I get a feeling it's going to be one of these games that not enough people are aware of. It looks like it will add a new element of fun to the FPS genre though, which is why I will be keeping an eye on this title.
I hope it does become quite a big game when it's released. From the videos I've seen, I really think this game would be great fun!

I'm interested in Brink, but at the same time I'm not sure if it'll live up to its own claims.
It's probably because I'm just starved of anything really unique, but there's something about Brink that makes me really wish that it turns out well. Mostly because I think that Brink may be a step away from the Call of Duty-esque hyper-gritty-realistic shooters that have become so prevalent these days.
That, and I've always wanted a good class based shooter on console.
Aside from TF2, but that's never getting any updates.
It looks interesting but at the same time I feel as if it's going to fall flat on it's face, especially when the next Call of Duty comes out, Brink just won't even exist.

This game better be damn well good. Screw the little guys, I'm gonna be a huge guy mowing down the competition with a fucking minigun.
Brink sounds brilliant, and I'd love to see it succeed. We need the spotlight off of CoD, I'm so sick of hearing about it...Brink looks much more innovative.
I end threads.
It's a great game but how much it rely on team work will bring it down you literal can't make it through a section of the map without the class required to complete the objective so basically say the afk guy has the class you need to move up or the douche-bag has it it's going to piss a lot of people off but what i do love about brink is the amount of customization.
Fun facts:
When you create your character in Brink you can choose between 3 character sizes: Skinny, Medium, and Bulked. (Or something like that.)
Skinny characters can do wall jumps and every S.M.A.R.T. maneuver available, but is restricted to smaller weapons. Bulked characters can barely jump over a crate, but can carry huge weapons.
I have great interest in this thread.
I'm not getting this game, nor am I supporting it for one singular reason. Despite claims of having one of the best player customization setups on the market, there is no option to choose gender. Meaning half the world's population is being ignored. This isn't something that usually bugs me so much, as I have enjoyed plenty of games where the only playable character was a male and quite enjoyed them. The only reason it's bothering me is because of the claim of being one of the best customization systems ever.
It's a principle for me. I simply can't stand by someone who makes a claim like that, while ignoring me and every other woman out there.
For those who are looking forward to it, I do hope it's good for your sakes. But in another way I do hope it fails because of the developer's attitude.

You are right and I just realised that. It is a pitty, it looks like it's going to be a decent game, but you are right, you should stick to your principles. It's ridiculous that they have thought of so many things for customisation, apart for this one very basic thing. I think it stems from the FPS side of the game, even though there have been FPS's with women as characters.
I end threads.
I'm getting Brink for sure, it looks like it will fail but I preordered it anyway because of the preorder items and I wanted to play it on the off chance it will be really really good. Too bad the campaign looks like it will be awful and there probably won't be many Australian servers (hopefully there are)

Well i guess you buy very few games considering 90% or more of console games with customization rarely have female skins,Females in game's usually end up as the most naked the player can make them... .
Also a lot of it is that it'll take even longer for them to make the game if they do female skins as they have to remolded everything to go with the female, it's much easier to stick to one sex & just make for it.
Fact is as much as girls play games in eye's of a lot of dev's/publishers gaming is still very much a guy only zone suck's for girl's but just how shit is at the moment.
Indeed, I like Brink's idea of this SMART movement especially because it adds a new element for players to master, one that so far has only been attempted by implementing jetpacks, which has nothing to do with Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain.
This will really show if a player is good or not since there's no "I camp at the other end of the map with a .50 cal and a 12x scope" or anything of that sort, you'll have to actually "fly" your way through the map and try to kill other players while doing crazy acrobatic stunts..it really does sound awesome.
I do have a few complaints though.
For example, the class system is nothing new, it's just a TF-style standard "soldier/medic/heavy/spy/engineer" kind of thing, and the guns feel sort of similar (at least in the gameplay videos), a problem that Borderlands had as well.
And...why the hell is there no Beta/demo?They even asked players in their survey (and of course they said yes), but now is kind of late, don't you think?

Oh wow. That's really something actually. I really hope the developers fix that as soon as possible since that seems incredibly basic.
This too will pass.

Yeah, I don't understand what all the fuss is about...most non-RPG multiplayer games don't let you even pick your face, so players should be glad that there's such a vast assortment of faces/tatoos/accessories and cool accents to choose from!
Plus, if there were girls it would be not only unrealistic, but also possibly distracting, so..

Beta was october 2010 on ps3 was a lot of fun why i'll most likely be picking up brink(360 though)ps3 is just for beta's..
I've been keeping my eyes on this for ages, I think it looks really cool. The art style is brilliant and the customization looks awesome. I really hope it gets the sales it deserves, I'm really hoping it isn't 'under the radar' as the multiplayer looks great and I hope there are a lot of people to play with.
Probably won't be a first day sale, as its a new IP and I'd rather wait for the reviews (also have no money!) but I'm really looking forward to it.

If you pay attention to what I was saying, I'm not upset because there is no female characters as many games out there do have a lack of female characters. It's that the developers are claiming to have one of the best customization systems out there, but are ignoring the other gender.
And considering this game has been in the making for over a year (I heard about it a long time ago) and there's games that can pump out a new installment within a few months with perfectly good female skins that aren't nearly naked (Look at Dragon Age II. Most females in the game aren't scantly clad either).
And if people keep going "but oh well, it's mostly guys and girls get ignored, just how shit is" then things will never change. People have to voice their concerns once in awhile.

My fuss is not simply about not being able to choose the gender of a character if you actually read what I've been saying. Besides, even best selling FPS games are starting to include female characters. Look at Halo: Reach, hell even look as far back as Perfect Dark. But while male gamers get all these vast assortment of faces/tatoos/accessories and so forth, female gamers wanting a female character get sweet fuck all, and that's a bit of an annoyance.
Besides... how would having girls in the game be unrealistic? What year are you stuck in? Israel and Canada both allow female soldiers in combat positions. Even American female soldiers not in combat positions still get into combat. Russians in WWII conscripted women soldiers as well. It's not unrealistic at all unless you're stuck in a backwards frame of mind, and besides I keep hearing people yammering on in these forums that games are trying too hard to be realistic, so suddenly when the lack of female characters is brought up, the defense of such an action is realism? Brink is far from a realistic game from what I've seen.
And a female character would only be distracting if you let it. Get your hormones in check and maybe some cleavage won't send you off team killing.

Well, I did NOT read what you've been saying (well, only a bit) and that is why I did not respond to your post but the one responding to yours, duh.
And I got it, you keep saying that your problem is with the game saying that it has some of the best customization options.
Guess what: it does.
All the accessories, tatoos, clothes, faces, hair, masks etc. count as customization, in case you didn't know.Find me an online FPS that has more than that AND female models.
Plus, if you had actually bothered to look into it you wouldn't seen that the devs said that the real reason behind this is because creating such a high number of extra models was above their budget and would make the game huge size-wise.
I'm not saying it's the best reason in the world, but that's what they said. It's not like they randomly decided to give the finger to every girl gamer.
Besides... how would having girls in the game be unrealistic?
Well I'll tell you why it wouldn't be realistic: because they'd be forced to have some of the "heavy" female characters holding ginormous weapons that are twice their size.
And I know very well that some countries have female soldiers, I wasn't talking about that.
And a female character would only be distracting if you let it. Get your hormones in check and maybe some cleavage won't send you off team killing.
(I don't think you can teamkill on Brink, and that was not really a serious statement.Jeez.)
So the reason for ignoring half the population is to focus more heavily on one half. That is a poor excuse indeed.
And a female person can get rather big, strong enough to wield all these heavy two handed weapons.
