Repo men looks fucking retarded

This film is coming out this year, and it looks like it's going to be the worst rip-off film in a long time.

First off, Repo! The genetic opera, is a dark-themed musical/rock opera that came out a about 9 years ago, then came the movie version in 2008, which had basically the same script (only a few minor things were changed), but had the same plot. Both really kick ass. I've seen the movie and the play. Just look at this. It's the first scene and it's wonderful. The film version of this is not focused as much on the repo men as well, y'know, an actual good plot. Plus, in the movie, paris hilton's face falls off and an entire audience laughs at her. That just makes me smile.

But this obvious rip off that was written by different writers is turned into a thriller of all things. It's not sung. The 'geneco' mega-corporation is turned into 'the union' (bleh, really original there). No opera is referenced, which is clearly what the original had incorporated to show the influence geneco has over this alternate society. These repo men aren't dressed up in the kick-ass costumes from the original. They run around in suits and sunglasses or something. It was better when they undressed and it was a middle-aged fat guy, not some trendy tom cruise kinda stock-character. But, this can be looked over so as to appeal to the masses. Maybe. But then it just takes a turn for the worse.

The plot, which really is awesome, is completely thrown out and instead this new 'repo men' movie just takes the idea of organ loans and the original repo men. I'm sure there's going to be running around and chase scenes where the hot girls get massacred like in EVERY OTHER FUCKING HORROR MOVIE. The genetic opera is movie/play of class, and has a very incredible tone. This one is just some director with a lot of money who bought out the rights to this, and decided to make a buck off it. >:(

The rock opera one? Yeah, I know. I mentioned above that I have seen both the musical and the film. I have the film on dvd and have watched it a bunch of times too. It's a really short film, so when me and my girlfriend need a good movie to watch and don't feel like stayin' up for 3 hours, we'll watch repo! because it's shot and sweet

Well hipsters have been all over A Clockwork Orange for a while so that wouldn't change much. But even so, I would go and watch the movie, even if I do end up hating it. In very much the same way that I plan to see Alice in Wonderland despite how much I love the original, and have only heard bad things about this version.

Yeah, I know Law played a pretty good and badass Watson in that Sherlocke Holmes by Guy Ritchie, but really?

I agree. But there are certain things that you just don't do in the movie world. It would be impossible to duplicate Burgress/Kubrick's genius approach to A Clockwork Orange. But for some hot shot director to come along and completely throw it out the window, change the plot, and turn it into a thriller? Then keep the name, that would be like a permanent stain on film culture. No I'm not saying Repo! Is as good as movies like clockwork orange , but it is one of my favorite pieces of art and it's a shame for people to remember it as 'that lame thriller that came out last year'.

Woah, that's pretty strange that you mention that, as I am holding a copy of the original book alice's adventures in wonderland right now. Freaky. Anyways, all I'm saying is that I don't see the pint of
remaking classics with these all eyecandy, but god-awful plotwise remakes/rip-offs. There have been few, if any, good remakes that are better than the original. I feel the same way about book to movie films, but that's another story. I'll just say that the film versions of lord of the rings are not nearly as good as you might think they are if you ever read the books. And those LoTR video games/action figures/whatever else has been turned into merchandise makes me wanna vomit

Not even close to the original plot. In repo!, the protagonist's (her name is Shiloh, but I guess she wasn't cool enough to be in this blockbuster film) dad is a repo man, but that's only a secondary addition to the main plot which is more about a fued between him and geneco's mega corporation. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll stop there but let me just say that graverobber, pavi, and luigi, are some of the most incredible characters I've seen in a film in a long time

Does anyone see a problem with the plot of Repo men. Now, If I'm know the story (based on the commercials), if you cant pay for your artificial organs, the repo men come and kill you and take them back. So if you don't buy these organs, you die, and if you buy an organ you cant afford, you die.So whats the point?

Also, when the protagonist needs an organ and he cant afford it, they send people to kill him. You'd think they would have some kind of deal or something. Like a discount or they take it out of his paycheck. The plot itself is stupid.

I hate it when people say that. Works of art should be viewed and rated by all makes of human beings, and should be open to criticism from everyone, not just those who like it. Offering a biased fanbase won't help anyone improve anything, and is a generally bad way to look at people. its eccentially saying
