Green Day Rock Band Release Date

The second artist-centric Rock Band title now has a release date, with 47 tracks worth of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool coming to the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on June 8.

Like The Beatles: Rock Band, Green Day: Rock Band doesn't mess around with bands inspired by the California trio, instead offering 47 tracks' worth of Green Day goodness, from the early days of "Basket Case" to more recent hits like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." It'll have good old Green Day, charming and quirky middle-stage Green Day, and today's what-the-hell-happened Green Day, all rolled into one.

The game will support the same three-part harmony vocals as The Beatles: Rock Band, also adding the same capability to the six tracks already available as DLC. Nifty!

I hate Green Day too, but to say that this band is awful or won't sell is a very stupid and naive thing to say. Harmonix would NOT make a band-centered game if they didn't think they were good enough, plus when the game is fully exportable to the Rock Band games for $10 who's complaining?

Looking forward to it. Been ages since there was any decent Rock Band DLC, a bunch of Green Day tracks definitely won't go amiss.

By the way you do realize that the other game MTV and Harmonix is releasing this year is Rock Band 3 and it was confirmed that Rock Band 3 is being released Holiday 2010.

Confirms that Harmonix and MTV made a new contract deal too.

The positive thing about these track packs is that I'll be able to pick up the 47 tracks for relatively cheap when the price drops in a couple of months.

That's really not all that surprising. You're talking about an age range around 12 years versus an age range of around 60 years. That's exactly why it's stupid to assume teenage boys (or teenagers in general) comprise an insurmountable market share.
