The 9 Circles (working title) is a collab piece I'm organizing about the 9 circles of hell. Here is were the authors will post their works in progress, and we'll edit each other. Everyone else is welcome to help!

Here's the core things we've come up with so far.

Circles:
9 circles:
1. Limbo (Ass Crumb)
2. Lust (SW)
3. Glutton (OWC)
4. Greed (Pyro)
5. Anger and Sullen (me)
6. Heresy (Rav)
7. Violent (Dan)
8. Fake (Dael)
9. Traitors (Wiz)

Main Characters Base Personality

1. Dan (a.k.a. Dante): Smartass student/ finding his not so beloved Beatrice
2. Victor (a.k.a. Virgil): Nerdy freak, never stops speaking

Base Beginning Plot: Dan is a college fratboy whose girl friend dies and gets sent to hell. Dan goes after to find her, so he doesn't have to cook and clean for himself. Finds hell, goes in, story commences.

Due date: March 16 (later if needed)

To anyone who wants to join: Currently we are filled for writers, however we are looking for more poets! If your not a poet you can always help out by revising or editing, and I'll gladly include you in the credits. To poets who want to join, just PM me or post on this forum, and I'll get back to you ASAP.

To writers already working on these: Well here's the thread for your work! Get at it!

Regards,
Mr. 666

Lets start with the basics...
1. You just ripped off Dante's Inferno
2.This should be on collab page
3.The Nine Circles Of Hell is a poem!

1.He said it was
2.It's a good idea
3.So? It's a collab remake. He can do whatever he wants on his own thread.
Mr. 666, i believe this is monumental.

to the guy above ^^^

1. no, the nine circles is an idea of dante's, but its not copyrighted, and this is written in a different way, with different authors, as well as a different plot and different personalities for teh characters, the name's are just shown as a.k.a. so people now what characters they sort've represent. I'm hoping teh end product turns more into its own unique story then just a parody of Inferno
2. I don't believe it should, seeing how this is only including writers, therefore its not really spanning the plain of art and animation, also, this is currently not being published as a flash.
3. If you mean Inferno, we're not trying to copy taht directly, so we're writing it. I also think THIS story should be written like a hsort story.

but if you're talking about a seperate poem, I assure you I've never heard of it.

1.He said he had writers. Not poets. Kind of implied. Anyone with common sense would have figured it out.
2.Copyright infringement? Really? Do you know what website you are one?
3.Not a remake of a collab, a collab remake of Divine Comedy set in modern times.

Feel stupid now?

You're forgiven, everyone else keep from adding onto this like I've seen before in other threads.

This guy lived in the early 1300s. Copyrights only last life of the author+75 years. I could sell his exact works, word for word, and not be infringing any copy rights. These guys aren't even doing that, they're just writing a parody of Divine Comedy. Copyrights or not, it's legal to make a parody of a work. If it was illegal, there wouldn't be any fan fiction sites, and Scary Movie would have had too many legal hurdles to get thru to be made.

Because as you know obscure 14th century poets have all their copyright's on lock.

Yeah, I really don't think that you know anything about copyright because of two things:

1. Parodies are fair game- I can use whatever characters you make that I like so long as it's demonstratable that it's only a good ribbing.
2. Copyright's are finite- you'd find it hard to find anything before the 20th century under copyright, much less US copyright laws.

You are full of shit and should really shut up before you embarass yourself further.

So how would you be laying this out??? In a book, though an internet page, in forums, or a voiceover/radio play???

To start as a pdf/book, and then after that getting voiceovers and making a voiceover/radio thing.

Be interesting to see you guys put a new spin on things. I always felt the Inferno fascinating. It'd be nice to put a new spin on the seven circles.

Sounds good. Wouldn't you need graphic designers or animators to give the book a bit more of an edge??? How would you do your radio play, darker tone than book, closer to humour or rigid guide???
Sorry if i ask a lot, it's just good to be prepared

for graphic design, I think most of us have agreed to have none, because part of writing and reading is that everyone has their own image in their own head, but maybe we could have some, I kid of life the idea.

for the radio play, I would prefer over all for each author to voice their own part, but thats probably not gonna happen, so I'd stick with a more rigid play.

and maybe we could adapt the story into a script for ananimation, but one step at a time, if this works out well, then maybe.
