OH SHIT! My grandma has been in Chile for like a month now for her vacation, and there was just a freaking 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the whole country and tsunami warnings all across the Pacific Ocean!!! We tried calling her on her cell and she didn't pick up! There are only 82 people dead, and counting, but god hates us and will probably throw in a tsunami that will kill thousands of people.
Could she be... DEAD?...

I hope she's alright, man. That's horrible that another country has to suffer a devastating earthquake, and then a tsunami is expected somewhere.

Chile is quite a big place, relatively speaking the earthquake impacted only a fraction of the country. What area was she in?
That reminds me of when the bridge in Minnesota collapsed. I have family who lives in Minnesota, but due to the low number of people that were killed, they were safe. I think that most likely things will work out fine for your family, but there is always the chance that something bad happened. Try calling her.

This is going to be nothing like Haiti. even though it had a bigger magnitude, Chile has sturdy buildings as opposed to Haiti's crappy buildings, so nothing much fell.
