YouTube kills the Rickroll

The original rickroll video, featuring Rick Astley's infamous "Never Gonna Give You Up," has been removed from YouTube on the grounds of copyright violations. While there are still plenty of copies of the video, the fact that the original is now gone hopefully means that YouTube is taking an important first step towards stopping the beating of a horse that is long dead.

I'm glad about this. I used to find Duckrolling hilarious, although when it adapted into Rickrolling I thought that it seemed pretty pathetic. Over time more and more people have started linking to it and it just needs to die already. It's gotten to the stage that no-one who contributed to it becoming such a success still want that shit to be alive and want everyone who link to it thinking they're original for it to contemplate the fact that linking to a three year old video that gets dropped off at least 150-odd times an hour by dipshits on /b/ doesn't make them at all witty, hilarious or whatever else - it's just pure plagiarism.
