I have a Math 152.01 test coming up here soon (Integral Calculus for those of you who don't talk OSU language). It's over partial fraction decomposition. Anybody care to try and give me a quick run over of all of this?

1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4

No seriously, what the fuck is that?

think of it as decimals

.5 (1/2) X .5 = .25 (1/4)

Dude, I'm 13 and I know this shit.

That's not partial fraction decomposition. This is.

Lmfao, please, leave this thread.

Ok, partial fraction decomposition. There is a lot to it...several different methods.

The simplest version is say... 1/[(ax+b)(cx+d)], which can be written out as A/(ax+b) + B/(cx+d), which makes perfect sense if you think of how any numerical fraction works... So write the original expression, set it equal to your decomposed expression, start by multiplying by the denominator of the original expression, and then set x so you can solve for one variable. Replace the variable, change x and solve for the next.

It's not an easy technique to learn right before a test though.

Yeah suck my darkbrown...whut nvm.

I was being sarcastic about my little fraction post, but I am just too lazy to grab a English-Dutch dictoniary to search for whatever decomparis.... whatever that said, means.

Oh I didn't look carefully. You guys are applying Laplace transforms to this as well? That seems silly.

Where:

(integral):1/x^2-4

(integral):1/(x-2)(x+2)

LHS = A/x-2 + B/x+2

Now, from the LHS, multiply out the denominator.

LHS = A(x+2) + B(x-2) (EQUATION 1)

Follow through

LHS = Ax + 2A + BX -2B

Simplify.

LHS = (A+B)x + 2A-2B

Now, look at the individual factors, compare what you have to the like terms in the numerator
A+B, compares to the x term in the numertator, since there isn't an x term, it can be said that
A+B=0.

Now, 2A-2B=1

Solve, and substitute A and B into equation 1, and integrate.

(Miss anything?)
