Apparently insurance companies are checking if people are using social network sites, since people who religiously use them are deciding to post that they're "Away for the weekend" or they're give personal info like phone numbers and home addresses.
The big reason is because criminals are getting smarter apparently, and using those updates to plan when they'll strike. If you don't believe me look it up, i first heard about it on the radio when they where talking about a guy from Oregon being kicked from the University for a post he made on face book and then they started talking about that.
This seems a little silly yes, but it might be good information for those people who are looking into getting insurance and don't know about this ahead of time. I mean we can't really blame the social networks i guess, since people don't know how to communicate without being retarded about it.
AAAAAAAAaaaaannnd.... End rant, go go go!!!
Yeah, people would always tell me to be careful what I put on facebook because it could affect me getting a job.
If so, I'm fucked for posting all that Satan shit on there.

Only if they decide to have you put your facebook thing in the job application process.

That is such bullshit, not only is that probably an invasion of policy, you can always de-activate your account when they ask you for it.
I have heard about this before on the news. Employers also check those sites as reference whenever doing a job interview, if the worker is off sick or what they are like outside of the work place
There have been a lot of people losing their jobs because of things they post on Facebook.

It's crazy and I'm happy I don't use those kinds of websites.

Yeah but when have insurance agencies or jobs really worried about invasion of privacy?

I'm just happy i'm smart enough not to put a lot of personal info or stupid things on them. I mean they're fine as long as your not stupid about it.

The thing is too is that many people in many countries use the internet alot for communication and jobs have to be aware of what their workers are like or what they do outside of work or whatever the reason because those working people and their actions could do damage to the company's business and public image.
I can't imagine a business wanting a reputation of hiring unprofessional workers who do things that are frowned upon by many people in society.

It seems like a paradox almost, like it wwould actually improve the quality of the workers, but also decrease our privacy... That's probably why china and similar countries are catching up if not passing us, they have limited privacy =\

It's still not the best idea to post all your info in newgrounds, there could still be people in your area who would look at your profile to get info on it.
But I do blame social networking sites. If it's not important enough to email someone, do we really need to know?
I wish I was PaintSplat's. alt. account.
This is why Should I ever get a good job that requires this stuff i'll tell the people straight up. "If I don't come to you personally and tell you, it's bullshit." Im not ever going to give my information out to get a fucking job just so people can judge me on it for the things of how I feel or what im doing.
Wow, I didn't know that tweeting could get you in jail

It's because it's "Not fast enough" for the common person to e-mail another, they need instant information, "now" or they'll burst into flames. =P

Social networking is a joke anyways. Don't believe me? Give it a few more years to die.
Who's your warden, baby?

Well you do realize that myspace alone has been around for 7 years now, and it's still building worldwide, i doubt that they'll be dying any time soon. It'll probably end up like mp3's, at first it's like a fad then it becomes a real factor in everyday life for some peoples.
That's why you be smart about what you say and post dickface.

But just posting "dickface" would get boring and redundant after a while =P

Why because it could possibly inform the majority of less than knowledgeable newgrounders, or is there not enough cock jokes for you here? Sorry i couldn't make a thread full of cock jokes like the other 99.9% of threads in the general section.

Or possibly because, in a matter of seconds, it's managed to metamorphise from a proper, discursive thread with serious material into a discussion about posting "Dickface" on social networking sites.

Yes but it can always change back as long as others are actually willing to step away from childish materials such as that. The only reason i said anything in response to him/her was because the comment that was made had a double meaning, and didn't fully make sense to anything that involved what was being talked about. So i'm sorry it morphed into a "dickface" thread for 5 seconds
I just wrote an essay on social networks in English class it was a persuasive on if i think they are good for teens or bad for teens and after i turned it in all my teacher said after she looked over it is "No your wrong."

Well what did you write about? That and how messed up of a teacher do you have to have to mark you wrong for an opinion, even if it has the possibility of being a misguided perception?
yeah i don't have a facebook twitter or myspace.
Partly because I don't care but mostly because i have no friends...
Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town.

Just be smart about what you post. Is it really that hard?

Sadly... For a lot of people thi seems to be a difficult thing, i mean they think that they have to post every other minute about where they are, or what they're doing.

Oh come now man, you've gots friends, even if you don't know it!
My girlfriend recently pointed me to this website:
http://pleaserobme.com/
It's a site where 'tweets' are being showcased where people say that they are leaving their homes to do this and that, with the exact location. And it's updated every few minutes, so ... if you actually were a robber and live nearby someone you can easily go over to their houses and take your sweet time to rob the place. Of course it's not the websites intention to make that happen, but it just wants to show that people are way too careless about what they post on twitter.
And right now there are at least ten of such tweets in the past minute... =/
Anyway if something bad happens because of your careless internet behavior, I guess you just deserve it. People are being warned often enough nowadays.
