I bought The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga for the Wii and tend to use the Fatal Fury trio. Does anyone have any advice on this trio?

Fighting is a truly unique genre. It offers a competitive gaming experience like no other. There are all kinds of great franchises like Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Capcom vs(Marvel, SNK, Tatsunoko), King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Last Blade, Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur, and many others.

Does anyone think that the next King of Fighters Game is going to NOT disappoint, or is it going to suck again?

we'll see. i think SNK learned a lot from the mistakes they made last year and the backlash that followed. i think they'll do better this year than last.

i'm still waiting for the 02UM port to get here

I'm hoping so too, because when I rented KoF12, it was my first time trying out a King of Fighters game. It sucked. Then I tried out KoF '98, and it was awesome. I want to try out a new King of Fighters game that doesn't suck ass, and I'll finally have an idea of what the series is all about.

Fighting games are due for a comeback, what's more fun than 2 guys or gals beating the piss out of each other. But, with that said, almost all of them seem to have a half-assed story, {either a tournament, or an evil force wants to take over, etc.} Looking forward to SSF4, because I didn't buy SF4 due to the crappy way you have to unlock new fighters or stages.

Why didn't anyone say that SNK was announcing KoFXIII on March 25? I've been in the dark on this one! I never even played KoFXII because of all the bad reviews (well, I've never played a KoFs game in general), but I'll definitely try this one out if they bring back the flavor from the old series that was apparently missing in this new iteration.

Woo-hoo, a possibly good King of Fighters game! If it comes out well, that will be yet another fighter I need to buy, right up there with Super Capcom Sequel Stagnation IV and whatever's next in BlazBlue. Dammit, am I to forever be torn between loves? Balancing all the games I love is a chore on the 360, not a joy like it was on the Gamecube.

if you haven't played a KOF game buy:

a) 98UM if you have a ps2
b) 98UM if you have a 360 (though the netcode is balls)
c) play 98 on MAME

there's tons of other excellent KOF games other than 98 (02, 02UM, 00, 97) but 98's probably an easier pill to swallow for newbies.

This man is correct. I highly recommend King of Fighters '98 to anyone who wishes to try out the KoF series.

Not really. No way to play your friends (at least in the NES version, though it wouldn't surprise me if they added it on Wii), no combos or specials, just memorizing patterns mostly. I wouldn't exactly describe it as a fighter. I mean, it's not bad, not by any means, but Super Smash Bros. is more of a fighter than Punch Out.

This is pretty much the best commercial I've ever seen for a fighting game ever.

Now that is what I call marketing! And at $39.99 no less, Capcom struck gold.

Three pages and only two or three MK references....makes me sad.
Mortal Kombat is a classic old franchise that deserves respect from the community, you can't tell me the fatalities weren't badass, and gave them a unique look for the times. That and to piss off enough politicians to cause consequences showed some balls.
This used to be just as popular as SF....God damn economy, and armageddon.

The problem with MK isn't with style, it's with almost everything else. Complicated maneuvers were all but nonexistant throughout the entire 2D MK's, balance was all but unheard of, and having a block button for a 2D fighter was just stupid design. Yes, the Fatalities were awesome, but that doesn't mean anything if I can learn everything about the characters in under a week. Gimmie Street Fighter 2, Fatal Fury, or King of Fighters over MK any day.

Calcos speaks the truth. The problem with MK isn't it's style - it has plenty of that. However, the series lacks depth, and the newer editions are complete jokes. Mortal Kombat is the premier fighting game series for casual gamers: it has nothing that hardcore fighting game enthusiasts look for and everything that appeals to "Average Joe's" who just want to mash out something that looks cool when they buy these types of games.

Well, MKT is a little more elaborate than the others, and yes, it was a viable tourney game. However, it didn't age very well. With many other fighters dominating the industry this one's mechanics look broken today. It's kind of sad, really, 'cause I enjoyed that game.

HOLYFUCKINGSHITCOCKECLAIRS!

If this does happen, my only hope is that they balance this one out. There were 58 characters in MvC2, and only around 7-10 of them were actually used.
