Holy, really? That's fucked up :| Even though I don't buy many games, I rent them (since it usually takes me a few days to finish most of them anyways), so I don't rob the very same people who makes those games.
On another note, Although Alan Wake's story was very good, I didn't quite enjoy it that much D: Well, I suppose it's because I was expecting a horror game and it was a thriller. That and the fact that they take away your weapons after each chapter >:( I grew up with Resident Evil and learned to save ammo, yet this game spat me on my face.
Damn it.

Yeah I remember watching the Game Trailers review and they mentioned that there was no use in saving up all your weapons and ammo until the end of the chapter. I think Alan Wake has a good core concept and with Alan Wake 2 (I hope!) they can really master the idea. I like to think of it as Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2.
Not trying to give out spoilers for anyone who hasn't played it, but, considering how it ended, I don't think they are going to touch that story anymore, maybe a spiritual successor :0?

Is that your actual opinion or did you just watch the Yahtzee review and have never actually touched the game?

I have to agree with the other guy on this one, did you actually play the game? The story was probably the strongest part of the game. The environments were indeed beautiful though sometimes repetitive. As for the gameplay, it was a bit shaky at parts but it wasn't atrocious or game wrecking.
The first Alan Wake sold over a million copies, and that's not even counting the digital sales. And there is a huge cult following for the game. I'm not not surprised there is more Alan Wake at all and I'm really fucking glad there is haha.

The game was fun and I enjoyed it from beginning to end, but once it was over, it was over, I really didn't feel compelled to play it all over again all the way through. It also seemed very linear when after reading the description, I imagined the game was much more open and allowed the player to explore and discover things on their own without being forced into the main storyline at all times. Instead, there was no backtracking, and I wanted to see more of the town but never really got to explore it fully.
If they are making a sequel, a better approach would be to have the player be able to free roam around the area, and do side-missions in addition to the main storyline. Another nice feature would be the ability to buy weapons and keep them, rather than gain them, have them taken away, gain them, taken away, and so on again and again. It gets annoying when you save all your rifle and shotgun ammo for a tough encounter, and you find out your careful weapon moderation was all for nothing when you lose everything anyway.
Don't pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.

I'm actually reading the book right now, and I'm enjoying it more than the game itself.

Alan Wake might be the talk of the town but little is known about his re-emergence on Xbox Live Arcade. Fortunately, Xbox World magazine has delivered a sprawling eight-page feature chalk-full of details on the flannel-clad writer's newest nightmare.
According to the mag, Alan Wake's American Nightmare draws thematic and narrative inspiration from pulp action-adventures such as From Dusk 'Til Dawn and other Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez material.
The XBLA follow-up is a return to Alan Wake's open-world roots, featuring a hub structure which will see players returning to locations multiple times during the story. The game is described as "significantly bigger than any episode of the original game."
American Nightmare takes place two years after the events of the original game. Since saving Alice, his perpetually in danger other half, and confining himself to the 'Dark Place' beneath Cauldron Lake Alan has become an urban-legend.
In his absence fans of the writer have re-imagined him as a Candyman of sorts, the legend goes that Alan vanished into the woods of Bright Falls and returned as Mr Scratch, a maniacal serial killer.
Like all good urban myths uttering Mr Scratch's name a few too many times is rumored to summon him, and since things have a way of mysteriously coming true in Alan's world, the evil doppleganger has manifested and is on his way to finish Alice off, leaving a trail of bodies and video evidence of his murderous activities for Alan to find.
During the game players will learn what became of Alice, as well as Alan's agent Barry, after the events of the first game through new manuscript pages, TVs and radios, Xbox World reveals.
Although it still relies on the same combat mechanics as the original game, enemies now respond to Alan's light-based attacks in different ways that force him to switch up his tactics. A new crossbow weapon which can pierce through the darkness protecting enemies has been introduced, along with and Uzis, military-grade rifles and a nailgun, which Alan can use to overwhelm his foes.
For the full eight-page feature on Alan Wake's American Nightmare pick up Xbox World magazine issue 113, which also includes an exclusive look at Rainbow Six Patriots.

So, the answer will of course be a spoiler, but does it turn out that he's the one killing people and he's nuts or what?

It is a lot more complicated then that. You would either have to read up on the story via a wiki, watch a lets walkthrough for the game plus DLC or just play the game.
Extended trailer released: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWCNOJK1D Qs
New Features Commentary: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/new-fe atures-alan-wake/725101
I know there are very few people that care about this franchise on this site, but I have been a supporter of Alan Wake since early '06 and the following has grown a lot since then. The trail went kind of cold when the PC version was canned and it was released only on Xbox 360 in 2010. Since then over a 1.5 million copies of Alan Wake has been sold, over a million torrented, Alan Wake is coming to PC and a new game is on the way. So it seems that there is a lot of hope for this series. I will be making an official thread for the new game in due time once we get some more info.

My friend has it on his X Box which is in my room because he's staying at my place until he figures something out. He's out in boot camp right now, though. I started playing it a while ago, but didn't get far.
