The Interviewer - Official Thread 2010-02-17 02:00:08

Hello Newgrounds. My name is The-Great-One and I am the chief editor and one in control of The Interviewer Account here on Newgrounds.

Through time I have been interviewing many different users and posting the interviews on that account. The reasons were simple, there was more space available through news posts than BBS Posts, It kept any kind of clutter out of my news posts, plus I didn't think anybody would want to sift through the crap on my userpage just to get to the interviews.

I have interviewed over ten people and I continue to interview more. Below is a list of those I've interviewed.

1. Interview with Tom Fulp
2. Interview with EyeLovePoozy
3. Interview with ZekeySpaceyLizard
4. Interview with HappyHarry
5. Interview with TheWeebl
6. Interview with Krinkels
7. Interview with DaGrahamCraka
8. Interview with Elios
9. Interview with Luis
10. Interview with James Lee and Hania
11. Interview with The-Super-Flash-Bros
12. Intereview with SardonicSamurai
13. Interview with XwaynecoltX
14. Interview with Gooch
15. Interview with Appsro
16. Interview with Oney
17. Interview with JAZZA
18. Interview with Bosa

I am planning on interviewing Tom Fulp again and ask more hard hitting questions since I have improved over time. All interviews are 100% True and if you don't believe me you can PM the interviewee's and ask them yourself.

The main point I'm trying to make here though is that I am moving The Interviewer out of General and to here. The main reason is this is a Writer's Forum and it would suit better here and probably get better recognition than being in General.

Also this...

WANT TO BE INTERVIEWED

If you want to be interviewed then you must be one of the following to garner an interview...

*Have Flash Submissions
*Have Audio Submissions
*Have Art Submissions
*Have Separate Works On The BBS
*Have Been On Newgrounds For At Least 3 Years
*Any Combinations of The Following Above

Just PM asking me for an interview, I'll look over your profile and see if I can interview you. Believe me I would love to know everybody's opinions, but like writing a book it has to be something readers would want to read about and I have to have enough information to do so... not enough info, then no go.

If you want to suggest someone then either PM me or suggest them through here and I'll get right on it or if I actually get any hired hands through this thread I'll notify them and such.

Also remember once an interview is posted on the Interviewer account the first three questions will be posted here as well as a link to the interview.

Perhaps you should interview some of the top Photoshoppers on the forums like Jamoke, Kart-Man and perhaps myself. We try to contribute to the forum with some nice photoshops and photoshop threads.

Quote from Tom's interview:
Q: Many people have asked for different features such as the NG Chat and Writer's Portal. Do you plan on delivering upon those and other features as well?

A: Chat and Writers' Portal should both become available in 2009! We have a lot of features in the works.

He lied to us.

LATEST INTERVIEW

Interview with Cayler

These are the first three questions to the interview. If you want to read the rest of it then please follow the provided link above. Below this is a small discussion about the next interview.

Q: How did you find Newgrounds and why did you join?

A: Frankly I don't remember how I found it, but I do remember being fascinated by flash animations back in the summer of '05 so I may have stumbled across it while searching for flash stuff online. Although I wasn't working with flash yet back when I joined, I had done some music at that time and decided to join to put it in the audio portal. I had terrible music software though and didn't take those first few songs and my account on NG very seriously because of it. I've considered taking them down since.

Q: Your first submission to the Audio Portal was a song entitled Rain Storms - LOZ Ocar of Time which was a remix of the Song of Storms from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Why did you decide to remix this song and why did you decide to add your own segment into it?

A: Throughout my younger days, I spent a lot of time playing memorable video game songs on my mom's piano. Around the time that I started making some music on my computer, I had been playing the Song of Storms on the piano and added that original part just to spice things up for my fingers while I played. So when I made the version on my computer, I added in that little part I came up with just to keep it from sounding too simple and repetitive.

Q: Your next song would be Gerudo Valley-LOZ Ocar of Time which was a remix of Gerudo Valley from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. You stated...

"I made this one for a friend who wanted to iceskate to this song for a performance."

Is this statement true and whether it is or isn't could you tell us why you made this song this way?

A: This statement is true. In 2004 I was listening to a few OCremixes and heard Gerudo Valley. That friend of mine was at my house at the time and said she loved that song and wished she could ice skate to it because at that time she used to ice skate competitively and ice skaters always choose the song they skate to. I didn't decide to remake it when she said that, but later when I was thinking of something to make on my computer I thought about what she said and decided to make it for her. Back then I wasn't planning on posting my songs anywhere so it didn't really matter how much I changed them because I didn't expect anyone to hear them and give negative feedback so I felt really free to make it however I wanted. Nowadays if I remake something, I consider people who might get annoyed if I add something really different that wasn't originally in the song. Also I may just be getting too old to be original anymore. lol

INTERVIEW WITH JACK BROMHEAD

The following are the first three questions to the interview. If you want to read the rest of it you will have to follow the link here due to posting space on the BBS.

Q: How did you find Newgrounds and why did you join?

A: Back in 2002, when I was about 13 / 14, one of my friends told me about this awesome flash animation called 'Xiao Xiao' on a place called 'Newgrounds'. When I got home, I loaded NG up and had a look and my imagination was just blown away. So I joined just to look at some cool animations. Around the same sort of time, my brother came home with a copy of Flash that he got to help him make a website or something, not too sure. But he gave it to me and told me to have a go. I did, and it just opened all kinds of doors in my imagination, and when I saw that you could upload your own "attempts" on NG, I did it!

Q: Your first flash submission is entitled Animal Antics. What was the process in creating this flash movie and are you still proud of it to this day?

A: Well, Animal Antics was the first of my submissions that didn't get blammed ;). I mostly animated stick movies in the beginning, but terrible, terrible atrocities that shouldn't be viewed by anyone. I saw Adam Phillip's HitchHiker films and the start of his Brackenwood series and that inspired me to try harder and not just settle for bad stick films.

So I thought "why not attempt a Creature Comforts style animation?", so I grabbed a microphone and recorded whatever was on the tv at the time, and challenged myself to animate to it.

I'm not one whose too precious over his work, and I'm really not a fan of Animal Antics, but it was an important lesson, which has helped me improve my work, so I guess I can't have too many hard feelings towards it.

Q: Your next few flash movies would address certain problems some people may be faced with they are Stupid Exams, Annoying Kid, and Vending Machines. I have interviewed SardonicSamurai in the past and he stated that some of his flash is based through venting his anger or opinion. Would you say the same about these three flash movies? Whatever your answer please tell us why.

A: Haha! Good question. I would love to say that I was displaying my opinions or venting my anger through flash, but it's really not as deep as that for me. Unfortunately. For example, vending machines, I found that classical bit of music and then the idea popped into my head! With Annoying Kid, I decided to draw a background only using orange and blue... then a ginger kid. But I suppose Stupid Exams is the exception in this lot! I was currently retaking my GCSE in maths (because I'm clever like that..............) And it was annoying me more than anything, because my maths lessons were always put straight after a good lesson like Graphics, or Resistant Materials (woodwork).

I NEED YOUR HELP

Okay I had the idea to interview another Newgrounds regular like what I did with Elios. The person I chose was Gagsy. She still has not yet responded to my PM. So just go and PM her and tell her to "Respond to The Interviewer". That's all you have to do.

Interview with The Newgrounds Police Department

Today's interview is with four members from The Newgrounds Police Department. This interview certainly cannot be posted entirely here so all I can do is post the first questions for you. The members are TailsPrower, SpiffyMasta, mwmike, and Lizzardis.

Also I have another notice. I will now only post an interview once per week or so from now on. That way each interview can get the face time it deserves. Also I've been doing a lot of writing (out of the Writing Forum nonetheless) so yeah enjoy!

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Q: How did you find Newgrounds and why did you join?
A:

Lizzardis: I don't actually remember finding Newgrounds. I remember being pulled onto the site a few times by various games and flash movies that I enjoyed, but that was only from other sites such as AddictingGames and such. I must have joined because I wanted to add some favourites so I could find all the games and movies I liked, again.

TailsPrower: My cousin introduced me to Newgrounds when I was in elementary school so I was brainwashed earlier than most others. Quickly thereafter, I came to appreciate the hilarity of fan made parodies of the shows and games that I knew such as Mario, Pokemon, DBZ, and Powerpuff Girls. I decided to join several years later so I could get the full NG experience and show my support for Newgrounds.

SpiffyMasta: I was probably about 12 or 13 years old when I first stumbled onto Newgrounds. One of my friends showed me the telebubby games and assassin games. I loved killing Britney Spears and then playing her dress-up games. The quality of NG games has changed so much over the years. Basically I kept playing the hentai games for a few years (like most horny 13 year olds do) and then I decided to make an account a few years later. I didn't really go on the forums until 2005. This month marks the 8th year of my account and the rest is history.

mwmike: When I originally found the site I must have been only about eight or nine, so from that I assume that it was back in mid 2005 - perhaps not. When I first came to the site it was, to me and the friends that showed me it, simply a 'games site'. None of us had any idea of all the creative genius that goes on behinds the scene, the thriving community or any of the other things that makes it stand out from all of the other Flash websites and portals across the internet. I don't have much recollection of my signup, but I believe it was related to one of my brother's friends recommending a Flash trial to us.

Perhaps I could be interviewed. Well I probably wouldn't, but I'd still llke to put the idea out there. I think I meet the 3 years on Newgrounds part. Now of course, this account is about 5 months from being 3 years old, but it is only my 3rd account. My 2nd one was made in 2006, and is called Daimonas, while my 1st was made in late 2005, early 2006 and is subsequently deleted. Well, the age on this account is true so I think you can guess why. Younger people are so immature on the internet. Well, we all are, but they're more likely to be little trolls.

Infact, my earlier posts and reviews seem to follow the same style as those, but a little better. A little better with those is like saying the shit I took today was better than the diareeah I took yesterday.

I know you probably never heard of him, but if you are a regular in the Audio Portal, a musician, or you appreciate underground talent then check out this interview, you will not be disappointed. Also check out his music to.

The Interviewer Update

LATEST INTERVIEW
No. 26 - Interview with Kirbopher
You know him from his works in the "Go, Go Parody Rangers!" series as well as the "Brawl Taunts" and "NiN10Doh!" collaborations.

NEXT INTERVIEW
Interview with The Review Request Club
My last "Clubs & Crew" interview was the Interview with The Newgrounds Police Department. That was not only fun, but interesting to see what that group does for Newgrounds. So I thought I'd pick another, and what better one than the Review Request Club?

NEWS

Applying For The Interviewer
You know doing this is quite fun, but it can actually be kind of tedious for me, especially with all the other works I've been doing. So if you're interested in interviewing the members and artists of Newgrounds then PM me and I'll see if you're qualified and I will discuss everything with you through PM.

Want To Be Interviewed?
Well I post the criteria you must meet to gain an interview at the top of this thread so if you don't meet said criteria then I wouldn't suggest that you ask to be interviewed. The same if you have someone to suggest for me to interview, if they don't meet the criteria then don't suggest them.

Criticize and Praise
All praise and criticism is welcomed here. That is the purpose of this thread. For every comment I get that says they like my interviews I become ecstatic, however I also kind of lose a little bit of hope, because nobody is taking me apart, and looking at my own work I certainly know that it isn't perfect. So if there is something you can nit-pick or gripe about then please do, I can take criticism, I don't bite.

Upcoming Interviews
There are users who I still plan on interviewing. These people may not know I will be interviewing them yet. Right now though the ones I'm waiting for replies from are Rob, Gagsy, and Tomorrows-Nobody. I've been waiting for Gagsy's reply for GOD who knows how long.

Others I do plan on sending out messages to for interviewing are WritersBlock, MasterAardvark, Hania, Oney, jmtb02, and if I can swing it I'm hoping to interview Rig, Adam Phillips, and Waterflame.

The Interviewer Update

LATEST INTERVIEW
No. 27 - The Review Request Club
This interview is of five members of the Review Request Club. Including Coop83, Haggard, Fro, Supersteph54, and Sonofkirk. This interview is a long one so I suggest you grab a snack or a drink.

NEXT INTERVIEW
The next interview is unknown at this time.

A while ago I posted a hiring form in the Writing Lounge here, requesting new Interviewers for The Interviewer. I got one response. So I have a new Interviewer. His name is JerryAntares. You may know him for some of his works on here. He is currently in the interviewing process for WritersBlock.

LATEST INTERVIEW: Interview with Hania
The 2010 Newgrounds Musician of the Year, she provided the music for the 2010 Newgrounds Best Movie "Tarboy" which has been known for hitting the Triple Crown here on Newgrounds.

N_E_W_S___U_P_D_A_T_E

Jerry is still working on an interview with WritersBlock, so until that is done I will still be uploading interviews personally. I just can't tell you what interview will be next, because once Jerry's interview is done, I'm posting it.

Again if you want to be an Interviewer and interview other Newgrounds members then just PM me and I'll find out if you're qualified.

Also note this, there probably won't be another interview for a while. I'm busy writing other things for others and speaking with others here on Newgrounds about a project that I'm hoping will be quite successful.

All in all, I've got a few weeks of hell to go through in my hopes of grabbing heaven.

NEXT INTERVIEW: MasterAardvark
Don't hold me to this one, but if everything goes real smooth then this should be the next interview posted.

Well I've decided to drop JerryAntares as an interviewer due to not getting any information from him. So it's back to square one again. I'm still looking for interviewers to help me out. If you're interested then just PM me.

See, kids? Brown-nosing is good for the career! The sooner, the better.

Also I have decided to interview The Creators of "The Room Tribute" that being Tom Fulp, JohnnyUtah, and Oney. However that interview won't come out until after Madness Day so you're just going to have to wait.

Aww. That's too long of a wait. I am saddened.

Anyways, another (possible) upcoming interview will most certainly be with Rina-chan, known for her collabs with Kirbopher and being the most common voice actress here on Newgrounds, among other things.

Many more interviews are being planned, but... that's far off in the future. Any requests or ideas for the future, be sure to PM either me or The-Great-One.

I lied. Rina-chan is coming, but... it's far off into the future.

However, Evil-Dog was interviewed recently. Hope you enjoy it.

Megami33 was interviewed. She's the creator/writer/editor/star of Sailor Moon Abridged, and voice of Bulma in DBZ Abridged. It's in 2 parts.

We may be changing up a bit, interviewing people on the internet period instead of just Newgrounds. As long as they are within the creative mediums, why not?

Still planning on interviewing matt-likes-swords and Rina-chan, and I'm sure The Great One has plans of his own. He's just too evil to share.

NEW INTERVIEW

Interview with MasterAardvark
The creator of "The Pigpen" and "-Last Resort-" I have interviewed him and have discoverd that his twisted thoughts are actually more normal than they seem.

As far as planning for more interviews goes, I intend on interviewing some more people of Newgrounds and possibly someone outside of Newgrounds if I can do it. However as ryanson209 pointed out, I am keeping that my evil secret.
