the point with these site values is that they don't make sense.
nobody will buy it for that amount, a friend of mine has a crappy site and it said his was worth a 100k (it has only about 20 visitors a month...).

There's the possibility of large companies buying out these websites for large amounts of money and keep up their monopoly.
Google bought Youtube for $1,650,000,000 in 2006.
News Corporation bought Intermix Media that owned Myspace for $580,000,000 back in 2005.
ZVUE Corporation bought eBaumsworld for $15,000,000 in 2008.
There are many other popular smaller websites that were bought out by large companies over the years. Whatever is popular and has potential to draw in revenue, there will be competition or the larger companies can just buy them out and save themselves the headache of competition.
