i recently visited a bible chat room with many a bible enthusiast. i started a conversation with a few on armagadeon. i asked "Why didn't the world end on Jan 1st 2000?" One explained "It wasn't Gods time, man planned that" but it sais that god planned it? what else is false in the bible? jesus in fact? a fable trying to bring religion to the humble people and inspire them to become followers? pass the plate a couple more times.

First of all, the calander was made by man. God didn't come down and say "Thou shalt called today thy first of January!". According to the Jews, the year is something like 4250. The Muslims' year is in the 7000's in fact!

Second of all, there is documented evidence of a man named Jesus who was a charismatic leader in the ancient middle east. But, the historical Jesus had several brothers and sisters (contrary to popular belief).

Third of all, people have been saying the world will end for years! Once it was 1984, then it 1998, then it was 2000, then 2001! People thought the world would end in 1000!

Fourth of all, most of the book of Genisis are fables! Do you really believe that two people populated the whole damn Earth! (Three if you count Lillith!)

I've posted something before explaining the possibility of the bible being symbolic and that Jesus is merely symbolic of the sun. I didn't believe it word for word but it made it's points. Now I haven't read my bible in a long time but isn't the end of the world supposed to be Jesus coming to Earth and everything being destroyed in fire? I just had a thought that the sun will someday expand to swallow up the Earth and that would seem to be similar to the bible. Jesus, (the sun) destroying the world in fire.

If it is then the Muslims' cheated, their religion is only 1400 years old.

The birth of Jesus didn't mark the beginning of christianity, christianity started after Jesus death, having is it's beginnings in jewdisim. So you can say the same thing about christianity. The Maya did the same thing. Their calender went back thousands of years befor their civilization was formed.

No that's different. The christian was put back to the birth of jesus, not the so called start of religion. If it was put back to the start of the religion it would be put back to the time of adam and eve, that is what the muslims did.

Just an interesting sidenote:
My guess would be that you are referring to Adam and Eve, and if you take the Bible literally, It would be Noah's family that we are descended from, since the great flood supposedly killed everyone.

That is one of those thoughts that just becomes most disgusting as you think about it... so instead of two people, we decended from a lonely an old man and his family, and an entire boat filled with animals. Now I'm really going to get... going to get... to get... sick... *vomits on keyboard, then regains conciousness, then tips over, still with the thought of a lonely old man sent to repopulate the Earth on a boat filled with animals, then procedes to vomit again*
