QUESTION: Do you believe Barack Obama wants the terrorists to win?: 24% say yes, an additional 33% say 'not sure'.

QUESTION: Do you believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama?: 53% say yes, an additional 33% say 'not sure'.
QUESTION: Do you believe Barack Obama is a racist who hates White people? 31% say yes, an additional 33% say 'not sure'

I love how when it got to the "Gay and Lesbian" section it was indecisively "NO". Ignorant people we live amongst.

I'd love to watch Conservative users in this thread start barrel rolling with excuses like "its a biased Liberal source"

What's funnier is that the same people complaining about the birthers are the same ones who said McCain wasn't able to be President because he was born in Panama.
Funnier still is that there are more Democrats who believe Bush orcastrated 9/11 than there are Republican birthers (which is even funnier still since these are the same people who consider Bush an idiot).
But... why settle on the details?

As someone who classifies himself as a Liberal, I found the poll to be rather refreshing, aside from the results of the Genesis being taught in public schools, same-sex marriage and death penalty questions.

Why don't you take this test to find out what you really are rather than classifying yourself.
I found the poll to be rather refreshing, aside from the results of the Genesis being taught in public schools, same-sex marriage and death penalty questions.
Yeah I thought the Genesis question was utter bullshit and their answer was even greater. I already gave my opinion on the same sex marriage answers (see above) and I personally believe in the death penalty as long as the victim deserves it.

So its Palin and Romney?
The bottom line of this survey... Do you choose Christ, Other, or Not Sure?
The only other survey question without a YES/NO response was FAVOR/OPPOSE allowing amnesty for current illegals, which these old southern white people staunchly oppose.
And by the numbers, they are mostly against gay rights.
My question is, how do they go about conducting this survey and is this a random sample? Or did they find these numbers and addresses from the American Enterprise mailing list?
It's very obvious where they get the questions from... Karl Rove!

ALso:
================================
"QUESTION: Do you believe that the only way for an individual to go to heaven is though Jesus Christ, or can one make it to heaven through another faith? "
==================================
If you're atheist, what can you possibly answer?
or this:
================================
QUESTION: Should public school students be taught that the book of Genesis in the Bible explains how God created the world?
================================
The book of genesis DOES explain how God created the world. What does this question even mean? It's like it's tailored to trap stupid people into sounding ignorant.
I'm really skeptical about this. I can't believe there's that many retards who own and operate telephones in the United States.
Like:
========================================
=
QUESTION: Should contraceptive use be outlawed?
31% says yes, 13% are unsure.
========================================
Can we shoot people that stupid?
Or:
=================================
QUESTION: Do you believe your state should secede from the United States?
23% yes, 19% not sure
=================================
So almost 40% of these people are considering forming their own country? Holy shit. And it seems Sarah Palin will be the one in charge.
Again I can't believe there would be this many stupid people alive in the US. But when I see Memorize... I wonder.

To complete what I was saying above, the test does a pretty good job at thoroughly asking all the questions. I've taken it twice now, gotten the same results. Slightly to the left of moderate and a little Libertarian.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with that test. I consider myself more moderate than it says I was. Maybe several tests would be in order to get an accurate standing. Then again, I know I'm a little strange. I'm pro-choice, pro-gun and pro-capital punishment, and those three don't always go well together. I think it may also be worthwhile to take the test over a few times. I know that my political stance has changed since I turned 18, and other people's probably do as well.
As for the page itself...yeah, people are stupid, but I tend to take these types of polls with a grain of salt. Half the time there's a bias behind the questioning.

Quite frankly I can't see any error in their methods, apart from the question about entering the kingdom of heaven (though IIRC less than 4% of all registered republicans are atheists), and maybe that one about teaching the bible in school (either way their advocating teaching religion in school). But even if those questions were flawed this says nothing about the other questions.
So I'm thinking these polls are probably legit, which honestly doesn't surprise me too much given the crazy shit that's been happening at these tea party protests.

Did I piss you off by giving you a revelation on how Democrats are technically "more stupid" than the Republicans on this conspiracy issue?
lol, as far as I'm concerned: You're all fucking idiots.

You were supposed to agree or disagree on this. If you agreed with it, you hold more of a liberal stance and a conservative stance if you answered otherwise. Those question are actually pretty good compared to others that I have seen.

i was pointing the sheer stupidity and hypocrisy of this entire thread. you point out some polls a lib site did, then make comments like "look at the ignorant stupid republicans!" simply for having different beliefs than yourself, completely ignoring any stupidity from the liberals.
I have some serious doubts you bothered to mention the inane whining after the 2 bush elections when libs were screaming and whining that the republicans "stole" the election twice and how bush's inauguration party was "extravagant" and "a big party for corporate America" and how the amount of money spent was "disgraceful" and "disgusting" and how Obama's inauguration party, which cost $100 million more than Bush's was "magnificent" and "glorious".
I have serious doubts you bothered to point out the stupidity of the "truthers".
or the flaming hypocrisy of Al Gore and he massive mansion that burns off more energy in a month than most could hope to use in a year, flies a personal jet, and screams that we need to reduce our energy use.

This thread is not stupid. If you can find a Democrat poll that has questions like " Do you think George Bush Jr. should be jailed for war crimes?" or "Do you think Obama is the Messiah?", I do not think anyone would ignore the stupidity of the liberals that vote yes on these questions.
These questions ARE stupid. But if the sample of Republicans who supplied answers to this poll is indeed random, it tells you something about the issues Republicans are going to have trouble with in 2010 and even heavier in 2012...
Further than anti-illegal immigration... but a majority that are against amnesty for English speaking immigrants?
Not only against gay civil unions... but a majority against equal employment opportunity for homosexuals?
These two issues express the xenophobia and homophobia that the Republican party, if there is a future for it, needs to distance itself from.
Kind of a strange request, but I was wondering if anyone has come across any stories like the following hypothetical ones I have made up here...
1. A former illegal immigrant who, after becoming a legal citizen of the United States, operates a bilingual business which is thriving and creating jobs for Americans today.
2. A family, in which the parents are a homosexual couple, who, despite encountering prejudice and job discrimination, have successfully raised a college graduate(s) who has become a successful member of society and, despite being straight, campaigned for openly for gay rights.
I suppose these are the emotionally-charged happy-ending type of stories we may hear around election time, hopefully putting to shame any of this bigotry still supported by Republicans today.

Further than anti-illegal immigration... but a majority that are against amnesty for English speaking immigrants?
yep. and for good reason. If you don't enforce the laws, then the laws are meaningless. more and more people would sneak in, the apply for amnesty, bypassing our immigration laws completely. We don't know for sure how many illegals are in our country, or how long (or not) they've been here. If anything else we should strengthen and tighten enforcement of our laws instead of saying, "That's fine you don't have to follow our laws if you don't want to.

I don't see anything about equal opportunity employment in this poll. well, except for military and teaching. IMO people shouldn't be worried about gays molesting their children. straight people do that too.
These two issues express the xenophobia and homophobia that the Republican party, if there is a future for it, needs to distance itself from.
you mean become liberal? that worked out great these last several years. What's next? should they raise taxes and give everyone who doesn't want to work a free ride through life?

1. A former illegal immigrant who, after becoming a legal citizen of the United States, operates a bilingual business which is thriving and creating jobs for Americans today.
not likely, but you never know. Most people who sneak in are just looking to work. However, a bilingual person could apply to come in to teach their native language.
2. A family, in which the parents are a homosexual couple, who, despite encountering prejudice and job discrimination, have successfully raised a college graduate(s) who has become a successful member of society and, despite being straight, campaigned for openly for gay rights.
probably.

oh boo hoo hoo. person sneaks in, illegally, breaking our laws. We find them and send them home to try again, the proper way, and whiny ass liberals have a problem with people enforcing the law. As far as the gay thing... meh. people have their religion, and not many religions support such a thing, and people usually don't betray their religions to make people who want everyone to tolerate everything happy. real life don't work that way.

That is why I called it 'illegal immigration' so you don't have to talk about the legality of the immigrants. However, amnesty does not necessarily involve giving these "undocumented workers" full citizen's rights like a vote, Social Security, or Medicare benefits. But if an undocumented immigrant decides they want to become a legitimate American, shouldn't there be an intermediate step they can take towards this goal rather than deportation? If they decide to become "documented", register with local, state, and federal government, and pay taxes, shouldn't they be given the opportunity to attain citizenship without the fear of jail or deportation. I.E. The Mexican illegal immigrant mother with four children born in the U.S.A. attending public schools. Why should the mother have to be deported, abandoning her children so they can become wards of the state? And if you believe they should be sent back to Mexico with her, then you have to reconsider the validity of your stance on human rights.
Not only against gay civil unions... but a majority against equal employment opportunity for homosexuals?I don't see anything about equal opportunity employment in this poll. well, except for military and teaching.
You announce that you are against this claim, but acknowledge the evidence for it. Do you think it is OK for homosexuals to be hair stylists and party planners, but not OK to be in military or education? That is employment discrimination.
IMO people shouldn't be worried about gays molesting their children. straight people do that too.
I'm just wondering, can someone PM me with what 'IMO' means? Does it mean "in my opinion"?

Yes, this was found by the same dailyKOS 2000 poll, only it's one year old. The new poll shows 36% of all republicans say they don't believe Obama was born in the United States, and additional 22% say 'i don't know' (what does that even mean?)

The problem with asking 'would you support a gay president' is that it is a ceteris paribus question that has zero relevence to reality.
If a poll asked, would you support a president who was formerly a cocaine addict, i can imagine over 75% would say no. But George Bush still got elected, because his drug problem was not the primary prism through which people were examining him.
If a poll asked would you vote for a president who had committed Adultery, you would get the same response as Cocaine though possibly lower. But that did not change the fact that Clinton is today still regarded as a fairly decent president.
It's really that simple. A Gay president could theoretically win the election even if no body knew about it. If the "Gay President" worked to push the political emphasis away from his sexual orientation, if the media was generous enough to him, and if his opponent was 'bad' in his own right, being
In fact, if a Gay president ran against a Libertarian president, All other things equal (Except media coverage) The Gay president would win in a total landslide.
If a gay president ran against an Atheist, All other things equal (Except media coverage) I think the election would be close but the Atheist would probably lose. People are more tolerant of things they think are weird but involuntary than things they think are voluntary and hedonistic.
Speaking of Republicans and 2010-12, Pat Buchanan had an interesting article on Obama recently...
