do you think what george did was a crime, or an act of kindness?
was it inevitable of what was to happen to lennie?
what did carlson and curley mean in the end when they said " i wonder what's biting at them" or something like that...
what the? i have no idea...
can any of you help enlighten me? ):
Not only do I not know what's going on, I wouldn't know what to do about it if I did.
So what were you, the mouse that goes by instinct, or the guy that just sits around waiting for more cheese?
"self-righteousness can lead to being an asshole"
I never even considered shooting him a crime, lol..

I think George did it out of mercy because he knew the men would've done worse shit to Lennie. And I think when Carlson and Curley say that it means they don't understand why Slim and George are acting somber and stuff but yeah, it kinda shows that Slim and George know the deeper meaning of stuff while Curley and Carlson are just focused on the superficial shit in life.
That's what I got out of it anyway
I read the book and watched the film.
It was fucking hilarious when Lenny died in the film.
But yeah, act of kindness, Euthonasia should be brought back.
This is for homework, isnt it?
silly procrastinator
It was his only option. If George didnt shoot Lennie, then the ranch workers were just going to kill him anyway. At least the way Georgie did it let Lennie die happily.

no
shut the hell up

At the end of the novel, George kills Lennie in much the same way as Carlson kills Candy's dog. The dog is seen as useless and smelly, therefore it was seen as more of a nuisance to Carlson and the others in the bunk house. The men argue that the dog is miserable and in pain, which convinces Candy to let Carlson shoot the dog. After the dog is killed, however, Candy tells George of his regret for letting someone else shoot his dog. The dog was Candy's responsibility, and Candy feels he let the dog down by not taking its life himself.
George is determined not to let this happen to him. George knows that Lennie will be killed by Curley and the other men if they find him, and George wants to protect Lennie from the others. George sees Lennie as his responsibility, and George feels that he must take action to look after Lennie, even if this action leads to Lennie's death.
Lennie's death also reflects the killing of Candy's dog in the actual manner of the shooting. George shoots Lennie in the back of the head, just where Carlson told Candy he would shoot the dog, promising that the dog would die instantly and would feel no pain. George wants this "pain-free" death for his friend.

It was an act of kindness and enormous generosity, espeicially because he let his dying thoughts be the dream. You'll fail an exam in Ireland (which is where I live) if you say it was a crime.

Yes. He had crossed a line and killed someone. George had to do it.

It shows that they can never, ever sympathize with George, despite the fact he has lost his dream, best friend and his future. He has become an isolated, itinerant worker and these men can never relate to that

Hopefully, this helps.

What was the one armed guy's name again? I liked that character.
He did the right thing by shooting him, but I have a question.
Who gives a fuck it's a book and not a true story.
Yeah, whatever.

Oh yeah I remember reading that book in high school. At least Lennie went to the field with his rabbits, but I would have hated to have been the George character doing that to his friend.

Candy. Or, as I kept writting in my 20-something page report, Cadny.

Sorry, got confused here. I'll try increasing my attention to detail in the future.
"self-righteousness can lead to being an asshole"
He just wanted to tend to some fucking rabbits dammit.

What is a true story? What is really real anyway?

Exactly. That's when I realised I needed a break from newgrounds.
And here I am. Back again. It's like an addiction worse than heroin.

what'd this book mean to you?
This book is mainly about overwhelming loneliness and how dreams never come true. All of the characters have a broken dream, or are all isolated.

Curly was the one with style though...
I thought of it as an act of kindness. I don't know about you, but I always get extremely uncomfortable around mentally challenged people.

Well Lenny was dead either way, best that the retard not be scared.
We watched a live play after we read the book, all the guys laughed when they shot the dog. The actors told us it pissed them off afterwards lol.
In case anyone wants to watch Gary Sinese (CSI:NY) shoot a retarded guy.
Kyrbz is technically the plural of Kirby.
Lennie was a daft bastard who played with mice too hard, George did himself and Lennie a favour considering Lennie couldn't associate himself with normal society as he was mentally unstable.
We all know what happened back in Weed...
