DISCLAIMER: I'm aware that there is a superbowl thread, but I'm creating this thread to discuss the "importance" of the super bowl

so.......yeah, WHY is the superbowl so important to people?
Its the championship between two of the best teams in the country right? well why don't we make such a huge over the baseball equivalent or basketball equivalent?....

I'm not a sports person myself (which explains why I'm on newgrounds) but damn, I rarely see so many people get excited over ANYTHING, and now the superbowl comes up and everyone's getting wet

Because McDonalds gives us our 50 piece meal for the superbowl and we like that as the fat slobs we are.

Despite baseball being "America's Pasttime", football is definitely a more popular sport. And basketball is really boring to watch on TV, so that's out as well.

Additionally, the fact that the World Series lasts for 4-7 days, and is usually played during weeknights, makes it much harder to get super-pumped about. The superbowl take place on one afternoon, in the middle of winter when there is nothing better to do, and so many corporations, bars, pizza joints, etc. make a big deal out of it, that America can't help but be excited about it.

But I think the most important thing is that the World Series and the NBA Finals don't have funny beer commercials. That's the clincher.

Easy, aside from soccer tournaments you have once chance per year to win Super Bowl.

In basketball finals it's the best of seven so you'll have several chances

Same with baseball

Once you made it to Super Bowl, it's must win now or you'll start packing for another year and for the last ten years, most of the Super Bowl losers would stunk the next season.

Two exceptions involves the Steelers ironically despite winning both times while the losers when to return to the playoffs.

In 2002 and 2003 Super Bowl, both of the participants missed the playoffs a year after.

I'm not a big fan of Football, but I must say: The commercials are bad ass, the food is great, and since I go to house parties, alcohol is free.

The superbowl rocks and i don't even care for football.
