Ah. Finally got the paper templates, so here's my submission. Thought I'd have fun with the whole notepaper idea.

What's this?

I had originally intended to clean it up, add a bit of effects perhaps, but in the end, it just had a better effect as a messy sketch. If this spooks you, please let me know, cos that's definitely not what I had in mind.

As for the required details:

Location: Singapore
Age & Gender: going on 27, male
Fun fact: written above. Plus, my hobbies include reading, writing, and, of course, art stuff (though probably not the kind of things critics regard as 'avant garde')

lol neat, the notepad paper became a peephole now. When I think about it though, it does spooks me by staring at me with that human eye o.O

I like the idea, but since the eye is looking through the paper, the eye and his face should be a slightly different colour than the paper. Or some shades coming from under the paper onto the face would make it more affective too.

I like the idea but I think it could look a lot better if you used several colours or different shades of orange to make it look less flat and more intersting.

Sorry about the botched link. I wanted a clear image versus the distorted .jpg variety which is why I uploaded instead of using the attachment option.

It looks alright but I think it could be done quite a bit better. The lines look very unsmooth, what program are you using? The dragons eyes and wings don't look very natural and the lines are too straight and everything's too pointy. The wings shouldn't be attached to the body so close together, there should be a gap in between them. I think your gonna have to work on it and change it quite a bit if you want it to be accepted.

lol, that kinda like an ad, it makes me kinda want to see more notepads :D

ZeroTerraBladeOmega: One of the things we're emphasizing with the collab this year is good quality. It looks like you're drawing this with the line tool in MSpaint. I'm going to go ahead and say that MSpaint is a no no. There are plenty of free drawing programs that you could use other than paint that will look much nicer.

i was just reviewing pages 1-7 and both yourself and Captain Ben talk a lot about opacity, bringing the lined paper through more, because...after all it is supposed to look like it has been drawn, painted, sketched, doodled on the 3 types of paper you have clearly set aside for this collab. Hm... Well, here's the same piece modified. However, I wasn't sure if I should have made the colours completely opaque, so I'd appreciate any opinion given on this matter. The version I have uploaded here has some transparency.

Well I changed the font up a bit, did some backdrop ghosting and re-edited the scorpions mask....does this work JKA?

I disagree, no matter how you place it and no matter what font you use it's not going to sit right with the hand drawn characters. The theme of this is that it's supposed to be like you drew it on notebook paper, fonts don't really play into that too well. I personally think it will be fine without the text, but if you're really hellbent on pointing out the obvious (seriously i think everyone here knows who spiderman and scorpion are) then go back into it and draw the lettering yourself.
