I know just how you feel, in my old school I got in to a lot of fights, I would always defend myself and never attack first, only second and try to just ignore them, but when ever I couldn't I fought, only I would get in trouble due to my "angry and hateful mentality" and all the minorities got away with murder.

The 1960's were 50 years ago, most peoples parents were young children back then.

What happened in the past is not an excuse for anything. Yes social and economic situations vary and have an effect on things. However, schools being segregated until the '60's is not an excuse to be a loud ignorant asshat today.
