I even gave him examples of Punk bands such as "The Sex Pistols". He says that he listens to this so called "Punk Rock" when his iPod has shitty bands such as "Hollywood Undead" and "Brokencyde"
Kids these days.

I may be completely off, but I'm almost sure that early punk rock came from hip-hop roots or at the very least was influenced by.

Punk Rock came before hip-hop. . . far before.

I think is the opposite way, for example, The Beastie Boys started as a Hardcore-Punk band, before they became Rap.
Punk Rock came in the early-mid 70s
Hip came in the early 80s and late 70s

I hate rock and rap.
I like trance and techno.
My opinions stated. Good night.
You talked about Trance and techno in a rock thread

There's still a pretty good connection for a transition to be made then. So it still answers OP in a way, but yeah I was cunfuzzled as to which came before(I was thinking more blues than hip-hop I guess).
Ahh well. I am sure you'll get over it :3
You can be a paedo to me any time - Amaranthus
Brokencyde and Hollywood Undead have nothing to do with punk.
Tell that kid to spend an hour listening to punk, and an hour listening to that shit he listens to, and he will know the difference.
Yeah, whatever.

The stooges were influences,yes

I swear, before reading this thread, I was gonna try and make up a reasonable solution, but there's only one solution for someone who listens to brokencyde and hollywood undead, and it involves gas and fire.

I can't barbecue though

Anthrax is an example of rock/rap. Bring the noise 20XX, is also rap-rock.
Punk rock and rap rock hardly sound alike, someone hasn't listened to their music lately have they? Show him examples of both genres and see if that changes his mind any.
Tried to give him examples of bands but he's to ignorant to get it through his thick skull
Hail Satan, my lord and master
If anybody has heard of Sonic Boom Six, they're some rap/punk group from england or something. They're kind of shitty, but I guess if you like it you like it. There are rap artists who sing about the same things alot pf punk artists do. (the Smart ones anyways)

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about a dumbass that doesn't know the difference between punk and rap rock.

Punk rock has more of a heavy drum and guitar riff. Rap rock is more of using remixed sounds instead and adding a drummer and bassist for the most part.
i can give you guys his youtube channel. Note the Hollywood Undead vid.

Okay, that's it, I'm emailing you a crowbar.
Brokencyde? Punk?! Kill that motherfucker. Brokencyde isn't even music, let alone punk. Rip off his fingernails slowly, then start slowly but steadily ripping off his fingers using a series of gears to pull on each one until it snaps off his hand. then throw him into a pit of broken glass, piss, and insects. Leave him there to die.
Vote Green.
Sig by PabMo. Thank you very much.
Why do you talk to someone who listens to Brokencyde.

This.
And autotune ruined any chance of rap being any good to me. I mean I like some rap that takes skill, but not that you can use an autotuner and change your pitch without actually being able to sing it kind of pisses me off.
Oh, and to answer the OP's thing, you're right. Punk Rock =/= Rap mixed Rock. Kind of makes me sad. Punk Rock was so good and it influenced something so bad. Emo music.

Rofl, I didn't know who hollywood undead was before, but now I can see why they're getting bashed in this thread
I remember watching some kind of documentary on Punk Rock that reggae had a strong influence on early Punk. Just google "sex pistols reggae" or "clash reggae" you get all kinds of interesting results.
I don't listen to punk really so that's about all the value I can add to this topic.

So he only listens to ..whatever the fuck he listens to?
i don't know what the hell you classify Brokencyde...technocore?? w/e
It's understandable to confuse emo with punk because emo came from punk, and some bands are a bit closer to its father genre than others.
At The Drive-In
In all honesty, I think he was just fucking with you, and if not; he's a dumb shit and you should bash his fucking skull in
or stop talking to him about music idk.
Actually, you're the bigger douche for hating this guy for liking music you don't.
Grow up. I got over the fact that nobody cares for rock and everybody worships idiots like Lil Wayne a long time ago.
