Taking a Break From Politics. 2010-02-04 17:17:17

I can't deal with it anymore. I just can't.

I am deeply astounded of the viewpoints of people out there and how vastly partisan people are. It's like they look at the facts in front of their faces and pretend that they aren't even there. They just continue with their talking point until there is a screaming argument or the person at the other end just gives up.

I got my first shot from the liberal audience from some forum when they posted a video of something being uncooperative, high on drugs and naked in a public place. The police ended up tasing the man and did so two more times after even after the man hit one of the cops in the balls.

Response? "OMG POLICE BRUTALITY!" From a logical perspective you can see the cops following proceedure step by step until they were forced to use the taser, but nope. This was police brutality because obviously, "Aren't tasers supposed to be an alternative to guns?"

No, morons, they are an alternative to beating a man with a club.

Recently, however, the conservatives have just been annoying me to no end. I can't stand it anymore. It's like I'm trying to reach the finish line in the "100 meter dash to a logical conversation". Each time I begin the dash I end up running into a brick wall the just won't fucking budge. I try to remove the logical fallicies in the brick wall piece by piece, but they put a new one up and its even bigger.

This final straw for me started right around the time I visited Hot Air and obvious conservative political blog/website. It saw showing the interesting Stewart/O'Riley interview. Then I decided, like an idiot, to see what the comments were.

The whole time it was an argument FOR Fox News. I'd like to post some of the comments.

"Stewart thinks that everything on FOX is geared to the Right. I might be willing to agree with his premise if he will say whether or not other media outlets have a Left leaning perspective. Without that information his comments are meaningless as anything but insults."

Well, if you actually watch the show (and you don't) you'd realize that he makes fun of the other networks ALL THE TIME! But what gets me is that she actually, in her own stupid way, agrees with the statement that Fox News is geared to the right, but isn't willing to actually say it unless he agrees other networks are geared to the left. DOES ANYONE SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER LOGIC!?

How about my favorite quote?

"Quoting Jon Stewart, "Fox News is the most passionate and sells the clearest narritive of any new organization."

Is that a bad thing? It's easy to be passionate and clear when you know what's right. Inward knowing (aka God-given awareness) and augmented by facts are a winning combo in life."

This guy basically said that it was okay for the News organization to be passionate because obviously they are right in terms of presenting a narrative.

What gets me the most is the whole hypocritical defense of Fox News. No shit people on the right like Fox News because it provides a narrative that they agree with and they are okay with that. Then they try to defend its mantra of "Fair and Balanced" like a bunch of brainwashed partisan pundits. It's not that they want to look at any news objectivly is that they are okay with having a right wing new organization without actually admitting it to be so.

Because if they actually admit that it was that then they would have to say that all those dangerous "liberals" are right.

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! What is so fucking sad is that people who try their best to take an objective view into politics and the media see everything and its insanity and hope to God that there are people out there who actually see it just like they do, but they don't. Everyone has taken a side and the funny part is that they don't even realize it.

Republican, Democrat, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, AP, NPR, Time, etc. All of it has taken a point of view and ran with it without just looking at the damn facts and telling us.

What's the saddest part of it all? No one wants to hear the facts. We've gotten too used to hearing someone's opinion on it all. We've grown accustomed to hearing a Wolf Blitzer, Rachel Maddow or Glenn Beck tell us what to fucking think. Our generation has bought into their narrative. The narrative of the politicians. Hell, they will buy into what the man tells them as the "Pay n' Pump" because no one wants to think for themselves anymore and deep down they are very very content with their lives being with that.

So until I can sort out just how fucking frustrated I am by beating my fucking head against a wall I have decided that I am going to pull away from politics for a time being because it took me to this point to realize that there is no more objectivity.

Spin is King.

The whole politcal world won't change just for you, so instead of throwing a tantrum, attempt to redeem politics by sticking steadfast to your beliefs. In the of Gandhi, "be the change that you seek.
