Being a freelance programmer would be nice because you could work for all sorts of interesting companies or people, as well as having enough time to remain active on Newgrounds. The downside is that you may not always have work, so you wouldn't have enough money to live comfortably. Going freelance is also tough because it is a competitive field.
Working for a company has its drawbacks, too. Though you have a steady job, you may get bored because you'd be doing the same types of things constantly. After five or ten years you may not enjoy your job anymore.
I, personally [if I could animate, that is], would choose to go freelance because of the massive freedom I would have.

I would say the Director & Producer of Animation, that way I could create what I wanted to (that is if the person financing it would allow me to). It wouldn't have to create someone else's story and I would be making a lot of money at the same time :D

I want to get a job animating for an advertising agency that makes commercials and whatnot.
That way, there would consistently be jobs, my work would be spread way out, and it would be kind of interesting just to see how all of that stuff works.
Idk though, I'm kind of paranoid for the future.

I want to be that guy who does nothing all day but walk around with his arm at that 90 degree angle as he holds his coffee and peaks in at the animators from time to time.
I don't know his official titled but yeah, pay me for that

This job is also available in the game industry also,
but instead of just peaking at the workers, he will make random comments and hover over your shoulder wile telling you to do something, as you are doing it.
I would like his job also

I would love to be a character animator at Disney or Pixar some day. But I also like the idea of starting my own 2D studio. Although, I always plan on making things for Newgrounds until either me or the site hits the grave.
I've also tooled around the idea of, after graduating from CalArts (hopefully), to start a website that teaches animation to the younger audience that doesn't know where to begin and doesn't have the money to spend on complex programs and information.

My dream animation job would be to just do the titling and end credits of shit.
Stuff like 'Catch me if you can' ... 'the incredibles' 'batman/superman: public enemies' and a few other shit are very motivating. Its kind of strange that thats allll id want to do but i love typography and i like to mess around with what is arguably the most important part of the movie, where people will make their first impression of it.

It'd be amazing just to be like the behemoth, only with animating :P Fund yourself for the first few drafts of the animation with friends. Then if it hits big I would end up with my own company :O
But a more realistic goal would be just to do work for some crappy childrens show.
I could animate the next Dora.

The topic is a DREAM job, dunno why you'd lower yourself to a crappy show when you have the freedom to do what you want. have faith in your self!

I was just saying that was more realistic. I would love to animate for TV, even if it was just for some crappy kids show. If someone asked me to animate a stupid kid show revolving around a girl who loves a monkey a bit too much and is constantly stalked by a fox, I would take that offer gladly, and I'm sure you would too.

I would like to be freelance in the manner of David O'Reilly, he gets a lot of freedom when people pick him up for something and also gets to work on his own projects often.

Drawing those things you see in medical articles and animating those videos explaining biology and shit.
I've always wanted to be a Doctor, so animating some of it is a good way to help teach others once I finish doctoring and stuff and go retire, like all other old people, to Florida :).

Are we shooting for Pluto (STILL A PLANET), here? In that case, I want to own my own animation company and then eventually take over both Pixar and Dreamworks. Pixar will be used to make really awesome films, and Dreamworks will be used like it is now; as a cash cow. A cash cow that will fund the really awesome Pixar movies. I then hope to open a few (dozen) art programs in rural/urban areas so that kids will have something to do during the summer. The best artists/kids who show the most interest/promise will be bussed to Disneyworld every summer, and be given sort of a private tour of some of the facilities. Those kids will be fans of Pixar/Disney/Dreamworks for life.
Oh, yeah, I also plan to take over Disney. They'll be almost exclusively 2D, focused on amazing storytelling and movement.
But, If we're just shooting for the moon, I want to eventually become an animation director after 10-15 years in the industry just learning all I can, and then become an actual feature film director. Once I've made my cash, I'll work as an expensive hired gun while trying to work with already existing art programs to make them better, even going as far as speaking to kids directly and taking the most promising ones under my wing. Sometimes, just putting the idea in their parents' heads that they have talent in SOMETHING and will be able to make money using their talent will make the parent more interested in their child's life, and they won't be inclined to cuss them out or beat them upside the head for stupid s**t.
So, my dream animation job is to be an awesome hired gun that companies will be chasing after to direct their films and make sure they're not complete s**t.
