Movie/Game Ratings!

I have an idea...

Why not set up the flash submission system so that the artist can give their movie or game a rating based upon sex, language, and violence (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17). Then it could be set up so that only registered users with the right age, could view the "questionable" content (R, and NC-17 stuff) on newgrounds. This way you know what you are getting yourself into before viewing the movies, and Newgrounds would be much more likely to find a high-standard sponsor. Not only that, but Newgrounds could build a larger list of members quite easily this way. Granted that a 12 year old could falsify the account, It might prevent an 8 year old from doing it, and I'd considder it worthwile.

I'd just hate for my little sister to stumble on to some of this stuff...

It's like stepping in a cow patty...

What are your thoughts?

This would just lead to even MORE 12 year olds lying about their age and saying their 26 or something. It wouldn't change anything.

If Newgrounds is to find a good paying sponsor,
they must be acceptable in the eyes of that sponsor's leadership. And Newgrounds isn't exactly a politically correct website.

However, adding a simple informative rating system would make the prospective sponsor/s happy, and thusly Newgrounds would flourish without miriads of advertising banners, and more redundant hosting resources.

It's all about cash... not "MSRB crap"...

I don't know about you, but I'm sick of the ads (I've had 3 pop up while trying to type this!). And so I am exploring the opportunities that could improve the situation...

This is one route that would not require any sacrifices. So shut the hell up!

Pungee, you buy Eminem CDs? May I suggest something to you... if you want hip-hop, try Outkast or The Roots, not Eminem. Hell, get some NWA while you're at it and find new understanding in the plight of the urban community of LA in the early 1990's that led to the Rodney King case, the LA Riots, and the LA police scandal.
