4.07 / 5.00 13,902 ViewsWell, I've decided to get rid of my wii and buy an Xbox 360. I have $300 and after buying the console i will have about $100. But what game should I get? Every1 says that MW2 is great, but I wont have LIVE for a while so I thought that it would be kind of pointless. Then the Saboteur I heard has a really good story line and I guess that is what I am looking for since I wont have LIVE for a while. Has anyone played both of these games? If so can you recomend one to me?
MW2 has some of the best Story Mode I've played. It's not just about online play, though that is equally fun. Plus there's Spec Ops, which are co-op missions, online and off.
I usually frequent the VG and collaboration Forums. If you find me anywhere else, I'm lost and can't find my way back.
If you're just getting a three sixty that means you've never played the games before and the Saboteur's been getting moderate reviews but you should go with Mass Effect 2 that will last you longer an you'll probably have tons of fun with it.
Well I thought about Mass Edect 2 but I wasn't really interested into the Sci-fi action.
Well, I passed both of them and have to say MW2 had more memorable moments but it was always cool in Sabotuer when you jump off the Eifiel tower and yell: Bloody hell! (or killing Nazi's is always good) but you should get the PS3 if you want free online gaming.... (I'm just sayin)...
The Saboteur is really fun and you can spend a long time playing it. It's great for someone without Live.
MW2 is really good online but the story is short so you won't spend as much time playing it.
I personally think you should get Fallout 3 because you can spend hours and hours playing it and you won't need Live.
Modern Warfare 2, absolutely no contest. Saboteur has gotten luke warm to generally poor reviews. Even without live, Modern Warfare 2 is at least some fun if you're even remotely into FPS games.
This too will pass.

We should all stop listening to reviews.

Good plan, we should just blindly guess if a game is good.
UH, HEAVY RAIN, THINK THAT'S GOOD.
This too will pass.

You're saying he shouldn't get a game because it had generally poor reviews. I really liked it. Thought it was better than most games I've played. I don't mean we should completely not listen to reviews. I'm just saying that we should still at least try a game instead of assuming it's not worth any time because it doesn't have a rating or 90-100%.
Then there's the overrated games. The one's that get ratings of 80%+ and then turn out to be hated by most people other than the critics. I never decided if I'm going to buy a game based on how well it's rated. I at least rent it if it looks interesting.
I'm sorry to interrupt,
but Saboteur doesn't have a good storyline. The story is complete shit.
Believe me MW2 is much more amazing for a story then Saboteur. You will be stunned about every little detail in it, you will be dragged into the game with all the action you are surrounded with.
You laughing at me? YOU LAUGHING AT THE BEST!
Dam...this aint helping that much...what I'm caught between is, once I beat the campaign for MW2 is there really anything else I can do offline. The Saboteur I thought might be a good game because of the free roaming so when I finish the campaign I have something to fool around with.

I will admit that it's best to take reviews with a pinch of salt. Well, closer to a bag of salt, but whatever. For instance, I really enjoyed Kane And Lynch. Reviewers who dared give it a close to large score were accused of receiving bribes. On the other side, I always thought Halo series was just unenjoyable at best. I understand what you're saying, but when you have nothing else to go on, it's best to use reviews and try to read between the lines. It's better than spending money to rent or buy a game and only find out you hate it.
However, personally, The Saboteur appears to be a generally poor game with other games that have done it better. If you want fast pace run-and-gun FPS, go with Modern Warfare 2. If you want a sandbox where you show off how well you can jump from building to building while freeing people from oppression by killing people, then go with Assassins Creed 2.
This too will pass.

If you're looking for a game with free roaming and stuff to do when you're done, go with GTA IV. When you're done The Saboteur there's over 1000 things you can blow up and that gets kind of boring after a while... even though I've done all of it.
You can jump around and stuff but that can get kind of old.
I have come up with the greatest solution!
Go grab some used games or older games that have gone down in price so you have multiple games to play instead of just one to eventually get bored with. And then since Modern Warfare 2 is so great online, when you get Xbox Live you can get MW2 and be happy about it.
Some cheapish old games are:
Skate 2
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Red Faction: Guerilla
...
There's obviously a lot more, but I just named off 3 that I have that I like.
I got Skate 2 about a year ago at full price and I still play it. I bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2 a couple weeks ago for $20 and it's pretty fun. Red Faction was $30 but it is fucking amazing, in my opinion.
So go with some cheap games. They're still really fun, they're just cheap because they're old.
If you want a good game that doesn't involve Live for the love of god get Fallout 3 GOTY it is EPIC and will last you for weeks. Although when you get Live get MW2 although for me i would reccomend GTA IV episodes from liberty city because it is a free roamer, the campaign lasts around 4-5 hours good free roaming and the online is Shit fun.
Metal Gear Solid 4 or Uncharted 2.
But seriously, MGS4.
