I'm not sure why, but I envision Russia and China and some middle eastern countries maybe fighting, and ten the U.S. would try to be the middle ground and the continent would end up being neutral territory or something for everyone with colonies from tnos of different countries.

I think China would try to get it very fast, but would only use war if their other methods failed, for diplomatic reasons. Most land-starved countries would want it but be unable to obtain it, but largely it depends on the environment there. If it's a huge, empty, dessert, it's much less attractive to the international community.

But mainly, I think the UN would seize it in the name of everyone, and split it up or something.

Being a Bulgarian, this make shit sense at all, makes more sense for Greece, Bulgaria, Russia, Armenia to attack Turkey, but Romania for Turkey is basiclly irrevalent now, and if you think its strong because of its size, thats just some land it got for free after Austria-Hungary dissolved.

Only a complete idiot (which China is not) will send there full force to attack countries which don't do much other then support them, India on the other hand has attacked China, and while China has a couple hundred more million people, the Chinese army triumphed with less casualties, and India and Pakistan have been at a tension for many years now, with both sides acquiring nuclear weapons.

It depends on where the land pops up. If it's in the Atlantic, you would have the United States, the United Kingdom, maybe Spain or Iceland, and possibly a South American country like Brazil, Venezuela,or Argentina. (Canada wouldn't care enough to bother.)

If it's in the Pacific, you have the U.S., China, Russia and Japan(if it's north of Hawaii), or the U.S., Australia and Peru or Chile (if it's south of Hawaii). Mexico may or may not want in on the action; once again, Canada wouldn't mind staying out of it.

If it's in the Indian Ocean, you'll have India, China, Australia, Saudi Arabia, possibly Iran, and maybe one or two African countries with the military power to establish themselves. The US would be cut off from it thanks to no longer owning the Phillipines.

The Arctic is the most likely place for there to be a bloodbath. U.S. and Russia would definitely be involved, as well as Norway, and the UK if it can get past the Norwegians. Canada and Greenland may or may not be interested, although given the political ramifications they're likely to significantly expand their militaries. But in the end, Russia would probably be the one that desired it enough to take the whole thing.
