I have always liked a good challenge and thus I have decided to challenge the forum to a little game!
Each week i will post a new challenge and the best of the poems submitted will be listed on my wall as the contest winner! (Sorry no prize, but I will make a little 'Award')
Guys, I hate long blocks of text so I will leave it at that.
Now for this week:
For this week (extended so you have until next Sunday) I challenge you peoples to write for me a short Jazz Age inspired poem! Keep it Jazzy! Can you do it?
Here is a sample:
Jazz
O' baby, my gins' on the rocks -
And my feet are a tapin'
The jazz is goin and the floors' a livin -
So, baby, lets get goin'
Drop that smile of yours,
And lets get down onto that floor.
Go until our bodies be sore
O' baby, take my hand,
And lets hit the floor.
CHEERS!
Failure should push you until success can pull you.

Not sure what you mean by "Jazz Age Poetry." Do you mean like song lyrics?

Jazz has a theme, a motif, a feel. The Jazz Age was a time of free expression, self indigence, youthful revolt. It was fun and lively. The Jazz Age was alive.
Think Flapper, The Great Gatsby, Dancing, Jazz music.

So you mean like this:
Follow me home, and
Take off my clothes,
Slowly,
Slowly.
Curl on the bed, go
Down to my toes,
Oh, baby,
Slowly,
I can turn on a dime,
In my shiny Bugatti,
I can rhythm and rhyme,
With the best literati,
But you and your legs,
Put me out of my mind,
Oh baby,
Slowly.

Well it doesn't have to be sexual. This is nice.
Think of the parties Gatsby threw, or the raging stock market, or the fact that people saw the world paved in gold. THE WORLD IS AT YOUR FINGER TIPS!

Well, I'd prefer if ALL entries were sexual, but you're the judge. :3

Well the Jazz age was very sexual...so maybe they will be!
At any rate mine wasn't meant to be sexual. That was pointed out to me later.

The rain beats down on the roof
A chorus of staccato notes that punctuate the day.
The only comfort that I can find
Is on the crowded music page before me
Notes, lines, and words all merge
Into a whirlpool of complex beauty
As I begin to play,
All the sadness melts away
And I feel like
The world is a good place once again
I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.
