OK, i normally write a lot, so many times ideas come to me that i simply don't have time for because i'm working on something else. all the ideas i do have get put into a file and stored away for later. when i'm ready to begin a new story, i refer to this file and choose one of the ideas.
I was hoping to maybe get feedback on this idea to see what other people think. Tell me, and don't be afraid to hurt my feelings...its only an idea afterall.
Two brothers have worked together for quite some time as successful art thieves. in fact, they have almost become regarded as a legend - a magical thief who can move through walls, teleport, and even fade into the shadows. in reality, however, they are just mere brothers. their secret? These TWO brothers pose as the SAME thief. while one distracts the police, the other steals the painting, then they can trade off, passing on the artwork and really confuse the cops.
All is fun and fine for awhile, but eventually everything goes awry. the brothers are merely thieves, nothing more. both men made a vow to never murder. i mean really, whats thirty years in prison compared to life? during one heist, however, they find the museum brutishly broken into and the security guards killed mercilessly.
they decide to leave empty-handed, but as they do, they find the culprit of such crimes - them! or at least, an impersonator that looks like them. Regardless, the dopleganger vanishes and the brothers are left to deal with the police.
this is how it would continue. the man would continue to kill and steal, and who would be to blame? the brothers of course! How can they continue to evade the police and still manage to clear their name and catch this murderer?

You mean...there was really a third brother? Who was lost, had an even more traumatic childhood than the other two and became a cold-blooded killer? In all seriousness, it looks like it could be good but it's all in the execution; I'd certainly like to see a first chapter/script/whatever.

It's an interesting idea. It sounds like a description on the inside cover or back of a book. That said, it could be a good murder-mystery, but it all depends on how well you write it.
I don't know why you are posting it here; you seem to have a pretty good handle on what is going on and where you want to go with the story.

This is how I feel.
The "this/these character/s is/are being framed for a crime they didn't do" premise has been used quite a bit in the murder-mystery genre. It sounds like something that could turn out to be predictable. That being said, if you create good style, character developments, twisting subplots and a good execution, that problem will most likely be non-existent. It all depends on how you work with it. I, myself, am a fan of this genre. I'd be interested in reading it.
