There are often times when i prefer an artists' sketches to their final images. There is a raw and 'off the cuff' quality in sketches that i try to keep as i work it up to a final piece.
As well as my university projects (roughly 2-3 projects a week), i usually manage to complete a full A4 and A3 sketchbook every month full of studies and personal drawings, and while this still might not seem like much work to even more determined artists out there, its still left me a bit confused as to where i should start my thread...
So I'll start with these, A4 sketches drawn off the top my head.

It shows, that is one of the things I like about your work

cool, nice use of the white in the hair... I cant really see what he or she is holding though...
hand studies
good, they could use a bit more contrast. The different angles of the backgrounds strokes can be a bit distracting, especially in the left one.
Hey thanks for your comments! I would call these my rough works, so many of these drawings are only part drawn, abandoned or WIPs, i will adjust the levels a little bit to make them easier to see, i think the scanner i was using took a lot of the contrast out.
Thanks!
By the way, is there any way to attatch more than one pic in a single post?

Nnnope. But you are allowed to post as many times in a row as you want in your own thread, so it's all good. By the way, your drawings are fantastic.

Thankyou! And thanks for clearing that up for me, I kept getting little warnings about double posts so i wasnt sure if i was breaking rules.
Thumbnail for the random experimental sketch, again just trying to see how far i can stretch proportions before things start to look a little wierd.
Wow, your artwork is really quite stunning. Do you have any completed and refined art for us? Everything so far are (really impressive) sketches.

Wow, these are all very beautiful and unique! I'm very curious as to what you used for the white marks, it can't be chalk or the white of the paper right? I have trouble with contrast and find you're able to use it to a great advantage in your art. Keep up the good work :D
beautiful and interesting images in all aspects man sooo good. I especially love the one with the boy reaching up in that weird fish-eye perspective. I don't think I can't critique this shit

I think, on this one, the foot is a bit too small. Anyways, it gives the impression that the foot is farther away, which destroys the pic...
Nice sketches! It looks very realistic and welcome to the art forums

Nicely observed! I think the foot was a bit of forshortening gone wrong, probably because the heel wasnt made promenant enough so it gives the impressive of a downwards angle. I really didnt notice this until you pointed it out. Thanks for the critique.

Thanks, I hope to post lots of new work on here soon, at the moment it seems like im working my way back and posting slightly older stuff.
Ive just finished a tumblr page which some of you might find interesting. I made it to record my progress and to look back on my artwork, from when i first started to draw at the age of 10 to the present day. If any of you guys are interested in a bit of my background then i hope you can check it out!

This reminds me of Jhonen Vasquez's Happy Noodle Boy Armor from Squee! I like it.

Looong break from this site, been busy working on final projects for this semester. Over the summer break Im hoping to set up a Tee Shirt brand, I've been gradually reworking my drawing style in classes and changing some of the subject matter to see which parts of the illustration industry i can break into. A clothing brand definately seems like a good way to make some quick money whilst Im getting through my second year.
I haven't yet posted any ideas for my tee shirts but i will do soon. Its gonna be tough but I've convinced myself its gonna work!
Heres a simple sketch and some really quick colouring i did for a self promo project we were set this semester.

Id been wondering where youd gone. good to have you back

im guessing your shirt design are going to be very different from what you posted in here? Cause you have to take printing and stuff into account. simple graphics work much better than complex ones on shirts.
Id love to see what youve planned.

Thankyou! Yeah tee shirts will most probably be in black and white, if theres one thing ive learnt from doing a few graphic design jobs in the past its that printers will try to rob you blind when it comes to small printing runs due to the set up charges. I will either have to do black and whites in half tone or simple line drawings, or a mix of both so screen printing them myself might become an option. Who knows!
I look forward to having some free time so i can get some concepts together.
I hope this works. Test Video
