They say that language is an imperfect method of communication. That we can only communicate that which we have words for. You can tell a person how you feel. You can tell them "I feel happy" or "I feel sad" or "I feel angry".

You can describe it in as much purple detail as you like.

"I feel the depths of a thousand lonely suicides, their hearts filled to burst, crying out for help but deaf ears just pass them by, as if it's somebody else's problem".

You can use your words, tone, inflections, expressions and body language to tell a person how you feel. You can make them understand what it is you're feeling.

But you can't make them feel what you feel.

The importance of communication is stressed throughout our lives. We need to keep in contact with others. A healthy person will talk with others, and listen to them speak. He or she will be a social being, living for others and others living for him or her. He or she will say what he or she feels, and listen to the descriptions of emotions of other people.

But no matter how much we delude ourselves into thinking we understand others perfectly, we will never be able to get inside their heads.

They say no man is an island, but they simply speak of social interactions. On the surface it would appear that we are a part of a group. That we are, metaphorically, a continent as a race.

It would be more accurate to describe us as an archipelago. We are connected to some degree, but we stand as individuals.

We exist inside our own minds. We think our thoughts, and feel our emotions. That's all we can do. We can listen to what other people say, and see their emotions in their body language, but we can't feel their emotions, think their thoughts, because those are their own.

As much as people would like to think of us in groups; nationalities; races; as a species; we are individuals. We think for ourself, feel for ourself, and experience for ourself. We are our own people, and we can never be anyone else.

We can only see others through the bulletproof glass glass we call communication.

life is only as meaningless as you perceive it to be. to you, life is just words because you arent trying to believe anything else. You're stuck with you're own pair of shitty glasses that look upon the world, and the glasses reflect upon what you see. The glasses is a metaphor for your attitude, so get a better pair of glasses and you'll see the world as a better place. and not just "a series of words"
