Why Is It Cool To Be Gay?

I havnt been on NG in a long time so I thought I would come back for a rant!

I can accept the fact that homosexuals can be treated as equals and accepted in modern day society but why is it promoted on the television? Its almost as if its cool to be gay! I dont understand, its like all these kids are watching TV and been told "Hey check this out, EVERYONES DOING IT!" It pisses me off and now is spread like a rash. Now a days people see pretending to be gay as humor! "I know: lets pretend to bum eachother its fun!" WTF DUDE! We all agreed to accept it but I never agreed to advertise it!

But lets say your not gay. Lets say you've tryed it and it doesnt work. Then what? Well if want to be cool you could always be black ...

I detest how people are so influenced by all the dumb shit they see on tv. It's good that being gay isn't really seen as an abomination as much any more, but making it into a lifestyle, while it's simply one's sexual orientation - which is not a choice - is rather retarded.

Something else: I think it's interesting (and disgusting too) that people do not find it okay to discriminate and make fun of "bigger minorities", think black people and gay people, but the minorities that are much smaller today are still okay to make fun of and to be discriminated. I'm thinking transsexuals, vegetarians even.

See, the difference is the gay parade or the disabled parade is trying to convey a message that homosexuality or disability shouldn't be a taboo subject only spoken behind closed doors, nor should it be discriminated against. While I feel parades only serve to reinforce stereotypes and fuel the fire still going on, I think trying to justify a straight parade because gay parades happen is a silly task. Not to mention gay parades cover more than just homosexuality.

You are right about these things, but-- you're still gonna be oblivious to a people who don't just get it, or those who aren't willing to understand.

And for the record, there has been straight and white parades... although, the majority has been staged by the KKK. (Thus explaining the arrests... durrrp.)

And when ever it's a bunch of non-KKK nazi guys doing it... it's just like a handful of White guys who didn't get permission to set up a parade.

And, until there is a mass effort to stage a Straight (and or White) parade... people are just gonna take them as a couple of yutzes.

And, seriously--
nobody can believe that whatever Straight parade has happened they're are less of an attention whore? They're even more!

Where as with gay parades, it's a community effort, an actual pride of overcoming obstacles. And it's an event that includes ANYONE and EVERYONE (including straight people.)

But, with the Straight Parades... it's just about 12 guys... overly bitter. And unwilling to allow anyone else in if they're not at least straight.

I guess Straights could have their parade. Nobody is trying to rain on them. But people are just always gonna ask, "Why?" There isn't really much pride in being an un-oppressed un-minority.
