I'm curious to see where all of the aspiring writers of Newgrounds draw their inspiration from. So, what I ask you to do in this thread is just to list your inspirations and how they have affected your writing.
Most of my ideas come from stories that I have read by Kurt Vonnegut and from various silly poems by Shel Silverstein that I have read over the years.
I particularly enjoy the black comedy that Vonnegut uses in his stories and I feel that Timequake and The Sirens of Titan might be two of the best books ever written.
I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.

Personally I just soak in the world around me. I have a natural gift to twist things in my head to where I can get in deep -- a figure of speech to say that I am able to understand what is going on around me easily. I find people easy to read.
How ever I love Kurt Vonegut! The Great Gatsby is the best love story and my favorite book though.

Probably really complex storylines that generally draw from science fiction and that have a lot of subtle things that are never told directly to the reader, but are mostly assumed. A good example is the Half-Life series where the direct story is fairly straight forward, but what backs it up is a complex mesh of backround information and side stories that may only be briefly or extremely subtly referred to.

Really, my inspiration is my life.
Everything i write comes from my emotions and experiences, and i consider my work to be very personal to me.
This sometimes makes my poetry hard to understand and quite discreet, but then i feel like anyone who enjoys my work should be allowed to grasp their own meaning behind the poem, something that makes it personal to them.
But really, the best inspiration for me really are the things i experience from day to day.
