I'm uploading a few things I've had lying around collecting dust onto newgrounds, it's mostly hand drawn illustrations touched up on photoshop. Let me know what you think.

Hey, first of all let me welcome you to the art forum!
Its quite an interesting picture you posted, there are some problems with it though;
-The anatomy could use some work, especially the guy on the right (with the gun) seems to have short legs. Im guessing you tried to create a top down view? which brings me to the second point:
- Perspective; if you were going for a semi top-down view the figure on the left is a bit out of perspective. sure you could argue that he is falling that way, but it doesnt do the picture any good ;)
- Lightning; the lightning is a bit weird in this piece, I cant really see whether they are supposed to stand under a streetlight, have a spotlight aimed at them or have an invisible lightbulb hanging somewhere between them. Especially the shadow of the man on the left makes no sense, he is getting lighted from the front, but the shadow of his left foot falls to his left...
Lightning may seem difficult, but when you get down to it, there really isnt that much to it. You just have to keep thinking; where is my lightsource, where is the object illuminated, where is the shadow... its explained better here
- Composition; This isnt really that much things that are per se wrong with it, rather, they are suggestions. The box and the window (im guessing the thing on the left is a window?) do not really add anything to the picture, yet they are quite distracting. I`d suggest to get rid of the box and the window, and move the two characters up... so that they are closer to the wall.
one last point that didnt really fit in the above categories; the smoke from the gun seems pretty solid... more like some sort of abstract clay sculpture than smoke, you can try to change it, although removing it altogether probably wouldnt hurt either.
Keep drawing, post you other drawings in this thread too, and then some...
Thanks for the input J-qb, the light source is supposed to be the gunshot illuminating the dark alleyway. I've got a few in this style, here's another.
Well well, nothing to say huh? Thats because I just blew your mind, lol. Here's something a little different.

I like this one... although the colors could be at bit more neon like...
Im not totally feeling those black and white patterns in your other pics...

I prefer working in black and white, I've got some other black and white stuff thats a bit different to this stuff but it needs a little work before it's ready to put up, in the meantime here's a diffent angle to the second pic.

This black and white pattern you've got on this one looks really good. I think the character's face is too oddly shaped not so much on this front on view but the side view looks weird to me. I think it might just be cos his chin is so big. The top pic is pretty cool, only thing that's wrong is that both characters legs are too short and the smoke (I assume) that's coming out of the gun doesn't too much like smoke, it's often quite hard to get smoke to look correct though, especially when your only using black and white. Great stuff, I'd really like to see your other pics/art/drawings...

Looks like Marv from Sin City crossed with Hellboy crossed with the girl from The Ring.
Very nice piece of art you have there. I also like drawn art to be black and white, though it would have been perfect if the gun blast was thinned down a little and made a bit more opaque. Great job!

I could go for some hotrod art in here! I like the old-school comic art style you have going on, and that mixed with neons in this image brought that art-style to mind. Have you seen Ed Roth's work, or Robert Williams's? I think Roth uses a lot more shading, but you should check it out and see if it gets any extra creative juices flowing!
Thanks for sharing your artwork! ^_^

This one is my favourite, i dont know why, maybe because its not so dark and has some nice colours.
But anyway, all of them are real nice.
Thanks for all the support and advice guys. This is a new one, it's Alain Jourgensen from the band Ministry. Did it in a few hours last night, I think it came out pretty well. More stuff on the way...
Pink for the ladies. This character was nicked from a book, something about character design... I drew this in biro, so it's not come out great but here it is anyway.

Holy shit, when I was scrollng down the page, the checkers on this picture fucked with my eyes. I DO, however, like this picture a lot, I also agree that your color stuff DOES look a little better then your black and white pictures. Keep up the good work and happy drawing.

Haha, yeah that one can be a bit trippy, a nice trick with this kind of thing: Stare at the eye for a couple of minutes and then look at a blank wall and the image stays burned into your eyeballs for a little while. You've probably heard of it before.
Busy workin on some new stuff including the NG ad contest, should be up in the next couple of weeks. Here's an oldy...
Wow, your color stuff is so simple yet complex, I love it. Do you you use flash or photoshop? (Just wondering even though my stuff is done all by hand.)

Ha! I thought this one resembled Jigsaw a bit but the black and white art is good! The style is weird but very original!

Ignore that, stupid question.

Right this one is sort of a WIP, but WIP as in I have no idea what I'm doing, I wanted to colour it but the little knowledge of photoshop I have makes this very difficult. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear from you. Here it is "Filth pig"...
Just a simple little devil I did when bored, I designed this lil fucker when I was about 12, found it the other day and decided to give it the photoshop treatment. Still looking for help with the WIP above, come on people...
Hi Worsley,
Nice work, I like your black and white work, a lot of potential there!
Keep updating!

I know, the lack of responses can be frustrating some times, I have the same problem : /

Ignorance is bliss . Anyone for odd monkey jungle?
(For some reason this file is massive even when shrunk, this is the best I could manage)
Okay i've been lurking in you're thread for a while, and i'm liking what i'm seeing.
Readers of this thread seem to be firmly divided into the B&W and colour teams. I'm going to have to swear allegiance with good old B&W.
You have a really nice, classic style in you're B&W pieces. Reminds me of Sin City (as others have said), but also the old comic series, The Spirit
Now i'm gonna look at Stabby stabber stab stab in particular, lovely title btw.
The face of the mohawk man is really well done. But I think the shading on his shirt could maybe be a little less blobby? It's not wrong or anything, it just reminds me of the rorschach test.
The background's nice and frames the picture well.
But my main criticism is the woman behind mohawk man. It took me a little while to realize she was there (must be old age). For me she tells a lot of the story so I think it's a shame. If you could do something to make her stand out a little more without ruining the composition it'd be great, maybe give her an afro?
I really like the piece though. Sort of reminds me of Macbeth, "behind every great man is a great woman". I think it's cause of that look in her eyes, makes it look like she's manipulating him, it's great.
Keep up the good work man, I look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks for the input Watersnake, from now on "Stabby Stabber stab stab" will be known as "Behind every great man...".
Here is something I'm very proud of. Some people might think I know my way around photoshop after they saw the skull picture I posted earlier, these people would however be wrong, very wrong. That one (the skull) was a bit of a fluke really. But thanks to a friend and the many tutorials on the internet I have learned quite a bit and managed to pull this off:
"Filth pig"
Really like the new piece.
The tripod effect created by the eyes and nose ring make his stare so intense, it's quite unnerving. In fact i'm gonna write this as quickly as possible so I can stop looking at it.
The texture of the skin on the face is superb. It reminds me of Freddy Krueger. It's pretty disgusting though, in a good way mind.
But I sort of wish the speech was smaller, for all the typography is lovely, i'm not sure it needs to be so big.
Also a little more derailing on the horns would be nice, I know you don't want to detract from the face, but they look a little flat just now.
Anyways, enough of my moaning, another good job. This is turning into one of favorite threads
