I can try coming up with more ideas for people, but what exactly do we have people working on right now?
I don't want to be coming up with ideas for an army we might already have 1 or 2 shorts (being made) for

Flashbound is doing an orc one~ Im doing a chaos one
and thats all I remember reading

magic, you need to start animating.

we haven't seen what you can do yet (in motion) and its going to suck if we cant take you after you came up with 20 ideas etc.

Know that we wont hesitate to deny you or anyone if your/their work isn't up to snuff, regardless of verbal contributions

Yeah, i'm afraid it's true. My part is currently on physical paper (sketches and storyboards) and i'll post stuff once college kindly gives me some free time (summer? which is only 2 months in my case? i hope not...) but PLEASE get animating for God's Sake... all of you...

Sorry guys, there's a fair bit there and I imagine half ot its not particularly awe-inspiring but that's my two sillings in the hat! :) First half are just absolute ROUGH ideas - ie: I have nothing to back it up with. Secondly, seen specific / scripted work.

Dark Elf Assassins' Creed - Assassin Creed paraody using Dark Elf Assassin... ironically enough

Scrag Scissorhands - a take on Edward Scissorhands using Scrag the Slaughterer (could be very fun if you're interested in this one. I can throw some stuff together)

Dwarf Miners Strike - Irish dwarves gets their moment in the spotlight voicing the their anguish at how poorly Bretonnia has managed their once thriving mining industry on the news (I know somewhere I read you want to keep it news based so this is an option. Could also contain a few Ireland / England Miner Strike references).

Ben Hur scene with chariots from various armies that posess a boss on a chariot which seem to be popular reocuring theme.

Food poisoning in village. News team goes to butchers house to interview / investigate. Ogre Butcher interviewed and defends his products.

Note: Ogre Butcher and Scrag the Slaughterer are actual characters from Warhammer Fantasy. I can provide you links to them if you wish.

Specific Ideas

(Ork Warboss is rallying orcs who are overly enthralled with the prospect of fighting their foes as usual. There is a beanstalk in the background. )

Warboss: We are here to win! Hear me? To win! We got a giant up dat bean stalk n everythin!"
Orks: (Cheering)
Warboss: You do not know fear," (interrupted by a huge orc)
Huge Orc: Erm... I know fear! (Everyone stares at him, there's a drop in the atmosphere and with a nod of his head, the warboss signals a lackey on his left to deal with the orc who had interrupted. A bodyguard walks up to the offending orc.)
Bodyguard 1: "Boo!" (the huge orc screams like a girl and darts off into the distance)
Warboss: You do not know pain-" (and again he is interrupted)
Little Orc: Actually, now you mention it... I know pain! Happens all the time - especially at Orc Camp... Ouch the cigarette burns!" (The warboss signals the lackey on his right to carry out an execution. The orc is stabbed and he screams like a baby before dying. )
Warboss: Tonight, we dine in hell! (All but two unimpressed orks cheer).
Unimpressed Orc A: (mumbling) I'm not convinced that at any point in this speach he has even tried to be original."
Unimpressed Orc B: Mleh!
Warboss: Now, we have destroyed the elves, slaughtered the Bruttonian's, and savaged all dwarves but one. The only goodly race left for us to destroy is these! The Empire!"
Orks: (cheer)
Random Orc: Well what we waitin' for! Der's only five o' em!
Warboss: They'll bring more than that, silly billy!
Orc: There's five...Honestly. Behind ya... See fer yaself!

Warboss turns to look to find five huge Imperial AT-ATs (off Star Wars) marching towards them. They scream and panic but are ultimately obliterated within a few immediate shots. All that survived of the army is a beanstalk, but even so, as the dust clouds disperse, and a lonesome dwarf runs up and cuts it down in seconds and darts off again. A random giant of the orcs' crashes to his death.

Wood Elves squaring off against the Skaven on the field. Dramatic drum rolls beating away for atmosphere and then...

Wood Elf Captain: FIRE AT WILL!

(there is a delay, the music / drums stops)

Wood Elf Archer: (sheepishly) Which one's Will?

Wood Elf Captain: (shrugs) (calls out to the skaven) Which one of you is Will?

Skavens look amongst one another and then after a quick indecipherable discussion, single out one of them.

Wood Elf Captain: Why thank you! FIRE AT THAT ONE THERE!

(they all fire and all arrows hit one the wrong skaven)

Skaven Boss: Nooo! That was Geoff ya bastards! THAT ONE! (and they all point at the same skaven again)

Wood Elf Captain: Ah! Sorry! Sorry-sorry! FIRE AT THAT ONE!

Again they all fire and hit the wrong one. They give it many goes and soon run out of arrows so that there is only one skaven left (Will ironically enough!)

Wood Elf Captain: Ah what the cock! Fuck it! CHARGE!

The entire Wood Elf army charge at a terrified Will who stands alone amidst a dead army.

Will: AH BOLLOCKS!

Screen goes black. Five minutes later. Screen fades back in. All the Wood Elves are dead save but a handful who Will is chasing off.

Will: God damn tree hugging hippies! If I catch ya here again I'm avin' ya guts fer garters and yer nuts for starters you god damn fucking BIATCHES!

A Chaos Warrior and a Bretonnian knight are stood in a bar

Bretonnian Knight: FOR BRETONNIA!!!! (necks a pint)
Chaos Warrior: FOR THE CHAOS WASTES!!!! (necks a pint)
Bretonnian Knight: FOR BRETONNIA!!!! (necks a pint)
Chaos Warrior: FOR THE CHAOS WASTES!!!! (necks a pint)

5 minutes later

Bretonnian Knight: FOR BRETONNIA!!!! (necks a pint)
Chaos Warrior: FOR THE CHAOS WASTES!!!! (necks a pint)

One year later

Bretonnian Knight: FOR BRETONNIA!!!! (necks a pint)
Chaos Warrior: FOR THE CHAOS WASTES!!!! (necks a pint)

40,000 years later... (they have now transformed. One is an Ultramarine, the other a Word Bearer Chaos Marine, and the inn is now a rundown leaking derelict building, but oddly enough the fire is still going.)

Ultramarine: FOR THE EMPEROR! (drinks a pint)
Word Bearer: FOR CHAOS! (drinks a pint)
Ultramarine: FOR THE EMPEROR! (drinks a pint)
Word Bearer: FOR CHAOS! (drinks a pint)

(Random, I know)

A terrified wounded knight cuts his way through a dense forest when eventually, he staggers into a glade filled with elves.

Knight: Surely you are the High Elves I seek!
Elf Spokesman: Indeed. We are high Elves. You chill, brother. What can we do for you... duuuude...
Knight: I seek a way out of this forest. The magics of this forest may not harm you, but I am harassed at every corner! You must lead me out! I am in peril and bring word to my liege of the march of the evil Ogre Tyrant Spasmasmatasm! If I cannot reach there before the day is through, then I fear all will be lost and the land brought to ruin, and all will become ash and bone and death and thins will generally get very, very miserable and depressing and filled with all-round unpleasantries! YOU MUST HELP ME!
Elf Spokesman: Oh yeah... You need the high elves... maaan... We can't help you pal.
Knight: What? But I thought you were the high elves...
Elf Spokesman: Nah duuuude... We ain't da hiiiigh elves..... we da.... HIIIIIIGH elves.... (a spliff is passed to him and he take a drag on it!) I'z coming, Baby Jesus. Ah yeah!
Knight: (mood changes) Great! I'll just put my sleeping bad here, shall I?

(Gay thing said I actually ran out of characters so here's this too)

Dramatic battle music. Beastmen charge High Elves. High Elves join the charge. As their dramatic rush climaxes, the screen flicks into a Warhammer tabletop version of the battle that has no music, just maybe the distinct sound of air-conditioning or something. One of the regiments is being pushed towards the other in a very slow and dull way by a lad whose got a watch on his wrist. It flicks back to the animation and the epic sound effects and amazing dramatic music blasting as both sides clash into a terrible fray and limbs are hewn and blood is sprayed across friend and foe. It then flashes back to the tabletop where both regiments remain facing each other inactive, the droning sound of air-conditioning being the only sound there, and maybe a 'Hmm?' from a pondering off-screen gamer. Flicking back yet again, a great beastman finds himself before an Elven Champion. The Elven Champion lays into the beast man giving it everything. High cuts, low cuts, nut-cuts, chest cuts, the works. It flicks to the tabletop. A single dice is rolled. It's a one. Flicking back to the fight the Elven Champion grows weary and takes a moment to study his foe. The beastman raises his arm. Back at the tabletop we see four dice rolled and its all sixes. It flicks back to the drama where the beastman annihilates the Elven Champion with a single strike. Before he can enjoy his victory though, his eyes widened, his jaw drops, and a human arm of epic proportions sweeps across the land and swipes away both armies. It wears a watch.

Right. Sorry about flooding you there. Not sure if its the kind of material you're looking for. I hope is so I have't just filled up your forum with absolute crap!

Let me know if any of this is interesting / doable / appealing to you..

Regards,

Obi

I'll reply to myself then - as predicted.

If the collab continues this way i'm afraid i'll simply have to shut it down. I know i dont have that much time to animate a short atm but, unless you've given me a decent reason for not animating, i think it's pointless that you tried to sign in to a collab (a sequel to one which was pretty bad-ass at that) and just post an endless ammount of stories with a solid number of voice actors, and not 1 animation.

I'm going to leave this decision in your hands as i dont want to screw this up myself if i'm in a bad mood, shall we continue or close this down?

Thanks.

Wise words, BoMbLu.

Guys / gals, I'm sure you're all capable of producing decent animations but what the guys are looking for (I think) is a bit of communication from yourselves. I don't think they're expecting you to reply with a dozen completed animations worthy of something off avatar, and I'm sure they're aware you're all living seperate lives too... But I think they DO want a bit of assurance that this thing is progressing forwards and that they're not working away at it whilst everyone else has zero intention of doing anything. Its a great opportunity for you all (as already pointed out, the War40K was knock-out stuff!) and I can't see why you would pass it up. Walking away from this might be the easiest thing for you at the moment, but finishing it would be awesome.

I'm not having a go at you - its neither my place nor my style. Just letting you know that if you are struggling with something that is hampering your ability to progress, at the very least make your collab TEAM MATES aware of the problem. I'm no animator nor do I have a clue about how much work is on your plates, but all the same, you can't argue against simple logic. Communication is your friend!

Its easy volunteering to do something, its quite another to follow through, but from the words of Pepsi: Just Do It!

Nike and adidas are both sport brands, not drinks.

Nike (brand) got its name from the Greek goddess of Victory - Nike. No idea about Adidas, but sorry, I'm sure that's not at the forefront of anyone's thoughts right now.

Well guys, sorry it turned out like this. Are you three unable to continue (albeit with far less sketches!) without the no-showers? If not, I'd just put it to experience :(

If anyone's remotely interested in using my scripts or need a VA, give me a shout or e-mail me - chip_obrien@hotmail.com. Just wish I could do something more useful for you lads but I iz shit. I guess all I could do is offer to do everyone's homework so you guys can spend more time on this thing.

I'll get back to my scripts. And remember, I got a daft War40K script floating me PC.

We could do that, at our own pace, and destroy the possibility of giving animators a chance to participate in a Fantasy Collab. We had discussed this some time ago and decided it'd be better if the collab's a 'big one' and involves more ppl than just Forbid, Flashbound and I.

And after about 3 days, only the same few ppl post here...

I see. Very thoughtful of you people to allow new animators a chance to show the world what they've got - most commendable. Though the reality of it is, it appears there's an 'all bark - no bite' policy going on. Welshy (forgot full name sorry, and can't see form here) at least got back to you, so you know he's not hiding his head in the sand.

In all fairness, I've not read this thread through and through so I dunno if deadlines have been mentioned in the past. Deadlines are a harsh thing but at least they can (and often do) get things moving into action. And if someone is struggling (and keeps in regular contact for as long as they are stalled as opposed to slinking off into the shadows never to be heard of again) extensions can always be granted. Something to think about if you haven't already.

And by all means, if I'm bothering anyone with these posts feel free to put me in my place. Not sure how helpful I'm being really. :( But as long as I'm not being a bother, I'll keep throwing in my two shillings.

oh yay

It seems my internet is working now and once again i come to a collab that is on the verge of DOOM again
Always have the best timing yes?

Anyways~ I said it once, seems I need to say it again
Schools has been busy, trying to keep my grades up right now so i finish the year solid. Thus, I don't have as much free time as I wish i could spend working on the collab

I have finished my storyboard sketch, and that's on paper to solidify my idea (if you leaders want a look at that just ask), and started working more on my own piece

I know, i havent had much time to do animations either (even though i'm leader an my main duty is to keep things going and i seem to be failing badly) but you're not the only non-organizer animator in the collab. School's important so finish your work 1st :)

And, to keep you guys updated on why i cant rly animate anythign atm, Art College isnt as easy as i thought it was going to be. I'm on the verge of starting a serious animation for my final project and i've been developuing storyboards, characters, etc for the past 6 weeks.
