So I used Open with> Choose default program> I choose Windows Media Player. But I didn't realized that the "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" check box was checked. So now every application file in my computer is a .wma file. This means that can't open anything except real .wma files.
Everytime I try to run a system restore the antivirus program stops it. But I can't turn it off because I can't access it. Everything else in the computer runs fine except for the fact that I can't open application files (which is anything like Mozilla, Quicktime, ITunes, Norton, etc.)
Is there a way to fix this without resetting the computer.

Then how can you open IE/Firefox. I think they are applications too.

Hmm, I didn't realise you could do this. Try booting up in Safe mode, I don't think those kind of settings will be loaded in safe mode, so when you're there you may be able to do a System Restore or whatever.
...
Could you provide a screenshot? My best bet is to open Properties through right-click and changing the default app from there.
When you boot up your computer press F8 a lot till you get the boot-up mode selection, then select "start windows in safe mode"
If that does not work then buy a new Hard Drive.
A toil today is a lesson tomorrow.
