Ive just come across from the flash forums and im looking into C++, i did a very small amount of it when programming simple PSP games a long time ago so it only seems natural i would choose it to start my programming journey of enlightenment.
When i moved to AS3 from visual basic i used one of colin moocks books(AS3 cook book) to jumpstart me , you know just so i knew all the basic syntax changes etc then did the rest myself without one single tutorial. So i was wondering if there was a C++ i could get that would have the same effect, i could take it from there.
Thanks guys !

Theirs literally thousands of them out their. It really is a case of going to a book store and "try before you buy" with programming books. If your going to go with a book that is. The reason for that is, their written differently, and different writing styles suit different people.
A couple years ago I would have told you to go to a bookstore, spend an hour, and pick something you are comfortable with. These days there is really no need to buy a book, given that the vast majority have leaked online. Go to isohunt and search c++ under the book category - you'll get more tomes than you can read in a lifetime. Alternatively, use wowebooks. You mentioned a cookbook - maybe this will do or this beginner's book. Browse through the rest of their stuff and see if there is something more appealing - its free.
