WOW! Just finished it, I'd have to say this software is brimming with incredible sounds. The slurs and tremelos were just unbelievable. Never heard anything greater than this folks. $1000, hmm...Im thinking about it.

Usually EastWest scales back their prices very well as you move down the product version (Platinum-Gold-Silver were great imo), but I think the $1000 is a ripoff for what you're getting compared to the $1500. The extra mic positions could be extremely useful (if you're purchasing products at this level you'll probably want the extra control). What I REALLY don't like is the lack of divisi, bow-change legato and sordino. Those are all extremely useful (especially divisi), and compared to the $1500 package, I think the scaled back version is worth $750 at best.
If I were serious about buying the product, I think I'd spring for the full-end version. If you don't think those features will be necessary, then you probably would be better suited with another (cheaper) library all together (something from VSL's special edition line might make more sense).
That said, these do sound fantastic, can't wait to hear the demos!

They are pretty incredible, no doubt they would be. But that price tag is heavy. What also is heavy is the spec's recommended. Certainly not for the hobbyist!
Slurs are awesome. Love it!

Sorry for another post but did anyone realise that the guy mentioned an upcoming Quantum Leap Space Effects Plugin in february. I wonder if its QL answer to Altiverb?
Anybody know anything about it?

I'm actually probably not going to get this first. There's a few things that urked me, which EW does a lot:
1. The divisi wasn't anything like LASS.
2. The legato sounded kinda muddy to me.
3. The tone of the strings were nice, but once again it has that straight EW sound that I don't like so much.
4. Those fast string lines didn't sound entirely great, though nice.
5. FAKE Con Sordino
There were a few things that got me. A nice full thick sound, finger positions, sync'd repetitions and tremelos, etc. But for 1600? Not going to start with this really.
I'm probably instead going to buy Cinematic Strings, the cheapest of the bunch. It lacks in definition which LASS does well (I plan to get both over the year) but has the overall best Hollywood Sound to me http://www.cinematicstrings.com (listen to "why")
That being said, this was just a video. There's probably more. But for now my budget is going with CS for two reasons, overall sound, and CPU (HS probably will want a whole new comp for it) and it fits my budget right now.

It would actually genuinely be cheaper to hire an orchestera and recording audiotorium than to buy that, let alone the cost of an 8gb ram 64 bit computer to use it.

No not really, in comparison to using that orchestra once for a certain amount of hours, and those vsts forever.
Im probably not going to buy it though. Im thinking more on the lines of Cinematic Strings or LASS
.
