Looks like my pm sending has paid off :)

And just to let ppl know, I talked to Jazza and he said he's too busy to come post regularly here but if there's a melbourne meetup he would like to be informed. So whoever ends up being in charge of organising the melbourne meetup should pm him once they're certain that it'll be taking place.

I like this idea! Thanks to CloudEater for PMing me about this.

I am from Australia, of course, and I am from Victoria... and most importantly, I go for the Sydney Swans.

Aci6 is definitely NSW (although closer to Brisbane than Sydney) and will still be after he moves.

I think the thread you inked to before was 8 pages over some months. We will be at 8 pages in 2 weeks which is pretty good going. A lot of Aussies I never knew about have crawled out of the woodwork and posted. Hopefully we can keep it up.

BTW to those of you I was telling about my plans to build a PC next month, sadly it's going to have to wait. The way I work and get paid is going to mean that if I buy it next month I'll be very short on cash for 4-6 weeks afterwards. If I wait until April then I should have no problem whatsoever, so it's 95% likely I'll do that.

Hey guys, got told about this here crew by Cloudeater.
I'll join because, well I live in designated area for club membership, NSW. But I'd have to say I make for a pretty piss poor Aussie. A good barbecue and saying 'mate' out of habit is about as far as I go, everything else is just beyond me. (Sports, drinking, beaches. Yeah, pretty much everything.)

You're equally as poor an example of an Aussie as I am. At least I enjoy a good drink but I don't do barbecues. Did you emigrate here as well?

Man 8 pages now??? Seems like the club is going well, although I haven't been on in ages. Did you know GTA IV is rated 10 by IGA? 10! I didn't realise it was so good the only other ten they gave to was some metal gear solid for PS2, and I couldn't be bothered to get GTA IV! Oh well I saw it at my local eb games for about $54 so I'm gonna get it...sometime.

It didn't deserve a fucking 10 at all. The fact that everyone was talking about how it would be given a perfect score before it was released suggests that the score was at least partially based on hype and trying to meet people's expectations.
And $54 is pretty expensive, you should be able to get it a lot cheaper than that. And the Aussie version is somewhat censored so I suggest getting it on eBay.co.uk where, thanks to the dollar kicking the crap out of the pound at the moment, you should be able to get a new and uncensored copy for probably barely more than 30 bucks.

Oh I didn't know it was censored, although a lot of GTA games and others are. Thanks for that idea I'm gonna do that, but it the UK version censored at all?

Thanks again, now I get to pay cheaper, for the real game. Thanks.

No problem. You can definitely get GTA4 cheaper from the UK and this goes for pretty much all games, especially now with the exchange rate.

The censorship for GTA4 is supposed to be pretty minor and nobody ever officially confirmed what was changed. The wikipedia entry has some information but I'm pretty sure there was more cut out than what they list. I'm 99% sure that some of the swearing was cut out, especially excessive swearing like random NPCs shouting at you and some usage of the word "cunt."
Also while the entry says that only the PS3 version was censored the last couple of paragraphs suggest that the PC version was the only one uncut and I think the last line should read "Therefore, in Australia, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of Grand Theft Auto IV remain cut, while the PC release has been released completely uncut."

It bugs the crap out of me that anything gets censored at all and I'll go to lengths to get an uncensored version. I was quite pissed off recently when I rented Silent Hill: Homecoming and found that it had been censored and obviously no effort whatsoever had gone into the editing process which just ended up looking really silly as a result.

I agree. . . Has anyone played the Australian version of Left4Dead compared to the American (uncut) version, there is the biggest difference EVER, the uncut one is out of control awesome, and the one we are stuck with. . . Sucks on so many levels.

It's because Australia censors anything that is R rating in a game.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. I really hope if any of you guys are in Croydon, please don't vote for Atkinson. Gamers4Croydon seems to really want to make a difference, but I don't really see them having much chance of ousting Atkinson, seeing as he got a 71% majority or something last election.

I'm actually really annoyed with Rudd as well, since at least with that I have some say. Definitely not voting Labor if he keeps going with this internet censorship bullshit.

You're talking about Left4Dead2 right? I'd be pissed off to find that the original L4D was censored as well.
