So I'm planning to visit Australia after college, but I don't know where to go. In your opinion, where's the most beautiful place?

I can only speak for Adelaide (where I live at the moment) and Canberra (where I have lived). Adelaide is a great place to live even though a lot of people complain about it, but in terms of visiting as like a vacation or something... there's really not much to see or do. All of the good concerts and landmarks are in Sydney and Melbourne. I'd recommend those. Canberra is quite green and the music scene is good, not as busy which may be a plus in your books. Someone else can weigh in on the rest because I'm not sure how "beautiful" they are.

For the love of god, don't come to Canberra expecting a "music scene". Unless you are into random little local bands in random pubs. In which case, its actually pretty damn awesome. Hipster cred through the roof. Melbourne is the place to go if you want to see bands that are actually popular. Or *sigh* Sydney. I'm sure it would be a cool place to meet all the loltourists.

Not really my kind of music - but I am going to Soundwave next year; such a great lineup. Anyone else going to that one?

Not really my kind of music - but I am going to Big Day Out next year; such an average lineup. Anyone else going to that one?

Can't deny that - the only acts I'm somewhat interested in would be Parkway Drive and Soundgarden.

The Soundwave lineup totally makes up for it.

Soundgarden, Foster the people, The living end, Kasabian, Hilltop Hoods, Odd future, Drapht, Frenzal Rhomb and Boy and Bear are reason enough to go. Soundwave is a go too, hopefully, would love to see SOAD live.

It's such a horribly scrambled mix this year. I don't know what they were thinking. And choosing to release the lineups via magazines and other printed press? In 2011 when they could have reached so many more people through social media? I get the feeling the organisers are really losing touch with the people they are supposed to be catering for.

Oh, harvest festival was pretty cool though. It was small, but having only three main stages meant it was pretty easy getting from one band to the next in a hurry. It was also nice to be around a bunch of chilled out hipsters instead of the usual bogan trash that populate Big Day Out every year. Definitely looking forward to it again next year.

Adelaide; in terms of visiting as like a vacation or something... there's really not much to see or do.

If you come during February & March then there is the Fringe festival and the like on!! Which personally I think is a pretty great time and the city is really lively and just fun to hang around in.

I don't remember if they played that, they were really great though. Possibly the highlight for me.
I still ended up seeing a few good bands even though it wasn't an overly great line-up.

Royksopp was amazing, and battles was pretty neat, but the sound system was fucking up (Melbourne) and it clashed with Regurgitator and Kasabian (who i was kinda excited to see until I realised the were playing along to a backing track).

Are there any decent festivals happening in the near futureish? I've stopped paying attention/having hope.

Strange. The second post in this whole thread (back in Jan 2010) references you as apparently being one of the few Australian users on these forums. Take a look. Interesting to see you finally here. I've been waiting.

Yes I did notice that post, I used to chat to Quinny a fair bit but I was not aware of this Club. But I'm here now, your waiting is over. You know you could have sent me a PM about it, I would have come and visited a lot sooner.

It has been a long time. Are the Newgrounds forums still active? Who's been watching the cricket? 4 - 1 against the South Africans. Tonight's game was insane. Lost 5 wickets in half an hour. It was closer than it should have been.
