After a little break, COW arrives back to the art forum.

For those who don't know how this works,
- The aim of the thread is to create a create a creature concept (+ description) within a week.
- A different theme is declared every week, which the creature concept MUST abide by.
- After the week's up, a voting thread is started, followed by a new COW thread & topic.
- ANY user can vote in the voting thread; just choose the concept you think should win.
- COW winners are given pride of place at the start of the following vote thread ... and I think I'll sort out a blog post so there's a hall of honour as well.

Right, enough with this bollocks, what's the topic?
This week's theme comes courtesy ofSirNightOwl... ish. I can't remember what it was exactly cos he changes his Facebook status so bloody much.

This week's feckeriffic theme is: DEITY!
Draw a creature which is a being of worship.

This can be something like Cthulhu or an incarnation of a God,
something like how Egyptians treat cats,
cults ... go as far as you think you can bend the theme!

Sweet Jesus.

===CREATURE OF THE WEEK RULES===
- Only one entry per user will go through to the vote thread.
- You cannot post your old work.
- No human likenesses.
- No real-life animals (play-on-names are fine).
- No creature chimeras.
- A description for your creature is recommended, but not necessary.
- No MS Paint.
- If I decide not enough time has been spent on a submission, it won't be accepted.
- All other Art Forum rules apply.

Deadline is the Monday 18th of January, sometime.

to be quite honest, most interesting images of a deity are actualy something like that. the image you used as an example is a cross between human and a cow, Chthullu is a squid/human/dragon , think of Vishnu, Kalki and tons of other stuff is basicly a cross between species. its gonna be quite hard not to do this and come up with interesting idea's

Already have a few ideas, but am waiting to see if can think of anything a little less retarded.

Anyways... Im sorry to report that I wont have time to make an entry for this week. I still might do it though.
I have been navigating away from concept art since the last cow ended (or actually a bit before that), so I think it`d be cool to get into that again... Ill be sure to become a regular contributor again.

Hi guys, first post, etc etc. I used to love the COW threads on CA, so I'm looking forward to these. Here's my entry:

Soaring high in the sky above the planet, this creature has lived so long and moves so slowly that jewel-like crystallizations have begun forming on its back. It is considered a god of prosperity by the primitive people living beneath it, as occasionally a small piece of a jewel will dislodge itself and fall to the earth. Of course, because of their rarity, these items are worth a small fortune and considered a blessing from the heavens. Many people will hold ceremonies and some even offer sacrifices hoping to entice the "god" to fly over their village and drop a space barnacle or two on them.

No, you vote on the piece of art you think should win. It is the art forum after all.
A piece of art has two layers... the visual aesthetics, does it look good, and the concept, what is the message the artist is trying to convey.
Sometimes these two are hard to distinguish, and sometimes there is not a lot of focus on either one part.
With these cows, I tend to look for beautifull images, but the concept has to be original to me... It has happened that I didnt choose the picture that looked best, because it wasnt original. the visual aspect is very important though.

I dont think youll be able to win solely on the concept, but Id compete anyways. Besides challenging you to do something new, there are alwasy a few poeple that review every singly competing piece, which makes it all the more worth it.

i knew that would come back and get me, but that was then, and im back at college now, i will do something though because i love the cows
