I hate it when people say "That's so gay" instead of weird or stupid. This is the definition of gay.

2. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.

4. licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies.

In the definition it doesn't state that gay means weird or stupid. Saying "that's so gay" is just like saying "that's so left-handed" It's just stupid, why not say stupid? You don't have to be targeting a kind of person when you say that something is weird. I'm not gay, but I don't care if somebody is gay because he's still a normal person, he just likes guys instead of girls. What's the big deal.

Gay means "joyful" originaly.
Before (talking about middle age) gay was not an insult, but a compliment. Example: Thou art gay! Which meant "You are gay", which meant "You are joyful".
After these times passed, the human being started viewing the preception of "joyful" as "homosexual", then the word "gay" changed it's meaning even in dictionaries. The word "gay" is an insult for the straight male humans.
As "gay" being an insult, the "That's so gay" the OP is prtesting about is nothing but an expression used to insult some object or living thing.
Although the OP is right about the meaning of gay and the bad use of it, it's nothing but an expression.
Look for example the word "fuck" which means "sexual intercourse" is used as an insult to somebody, like "Fucking idiot", which doesn't mean "Sexual intercoursing idiot" but more like "stupid idiot".
The expression "That's so gay" is used to give the "thing" a bigger insult than the word "stupid", and makes it a use of cursing to sound either funnier, angrier, or let's just say "more expressive".

I agree with this, but often times enough like for when something calls a homework assignment gay.
But when someone calls somebody else gay (using it in the homosexual tense) directed as an insult, I can deffinatly see where the OP is coming from.
