In Scotland we sunbathe with your english temperatures!
To be fair is hasn't snowed up here Aberdeen/Dundee for a little while but its stayed so cold everything is so icy. Everyone was walking on the roads because you literally cannot walk in the pavements since cars and grit trucks generally handle main roads.

Yeah, but Aberdeenshire Council still shut all the schools for the day, meaning my ungrateful brother has been playing Modern Warfare 2 instead of going to lessons or studying for his prelim exams.
Of course, my Uni will be open ASAP with my exams, ffs.
Ah! The sky is red now. Or orange. Either way, not a good sign.

Whoa! That's epic! Here in the states we're like, twenty-something Fahrenheit. We got some major snow maybe a week or two before Christmas, and we're expecting another huge one later this month. This is shaping up to be one exciting winter.
I laugh at your sigs!

I'm amazed how we got so much snow here as well. We seem to miss out on the big snow storms most of the time but we were lucky (or rather unlucky for others) this time. Me and my sister had a great time building a snow rabbit AND a snow dragon! I shall be posting pictures of them later. Despite the fun I've had, the snow has been bad for drivers around here. There's been two car crashes today (crashes on the roads where I am are rare), some cars getting stuck and all buses were off the road at around 3PM. I was at work voluntary today and getting the bus home was pointless as it took forever to get to my house and I ended up walking back half-way as I knew I'd get there sooner by doing so.

I fucking hate this country.
We burn when it's sunny, we get flooded out of our houses and drown when it's raining, we shut down completely whenever there's so much as 2 inches of snow, we get crushed under falling trees when it's windy, and we complain incessantly about all of it without doing a goddamned thing about our blatant suckage at dealing with it.
Why is England such a pile of shit at coping with weather that would be, at most, classed as 'moderate' pretty much everywhere else?

I really hope it snows around Essex, our school currently has work experience on, on the first day I was told I couldn't do it so I had to go to school, now i'm sitting in the back of a sixth form lesson.

I went to sleep and woke up about 20 minutes ago, I looked outside and the snow looked even deeper this time, I measured it with my ruler and it is just shy of 30cm.
The way things are looking I doubt I'll be in tommorow as well, but I have a GCSE this week so it could go bad. :o

Screw England shutting down everything because of a bit of snow, heh. We've had at least 15 inches of snow and I still had to go to school today, shitsux. Oh well, hopefully if it snows even more tonight then I'll be off tomorrow.

Also, here's a slightly crappy photo from last week. There's been a lot more snow since then.

I love how some of you are slatting the country and how it's handling "a bit of snow". Come on now, this ISN'T "a bit" of snow. When the hell does this country see snowfalls like this? You lot moan that everything is stopping but we don't get snow enough to deem the need of snow ploughs and shit like that which can move snow quicker. Those things cost money and usually they'd be money not well spent as our snow usually is just made up of cms, not inches.
Enjoy the few days off school/work while you can. Extra holiday for ya.

Here in SouthEast London there's nothing so far, bar from a few little flakes falling down around midday. I'm pretty glad, since I don't want my shit frozen off, although perhaps just a bit would be alright, not enough to fuck up travel around where I live though, I hate walking about when it's literally fucking sheetice on the ground - a ten minute walk can take 20-30 minutes on some roads when it's like that, minor concussion included.

Many of the grit trucks have an attachable plough on the front of them. I went to a small village just outside of Whitby on the 18th December for a few days, which is when the snow first started coming down. The journey took us across the North Yorkshire Moors, and if you've never taken those roads, then trust me - they're treacherous enough as it is without bad weather.
The only reason we made it to our location was because we were directly behind a snow plough/grit truck the whole journey. So yeah, we do have snow ploughing/snow ploughing capable trucks in the UK, though there might not be many of them.
We had to dig a road out, which was a quarter mile long and a 25% incline to get the car out on the return journey, though, since the place we were staying at was an area where even the grit trucks/ploughs wouldn't venture. Getting a rear wheel drive car up a 25% incline still partially (despite our best efforts to clear it) covered in snow and sheet ice wasn't an easy task.
