I keep trying to submit audio...

...but whenever I upload an MP3, it says "Error - That file does not appear to be a valid .MP3"

What is wrong?

PS: And why is it so hard to find a good picture for your audio. They have to be less than 20 kbs, a .gif ONLY format, and "transparent backgrounds aren't allowed here" messages are retarded.

PSS: How the heck do I get to pick a picture or icon for my user on the audio portal?

well my guess would be thats its not in Mp3 format

make sure it is

make sure its not bigger than 8mb

make sure its samples at the correct rate

well if you made the track yourself...which i hope you did, then the DAW you used should have the sample rate set to 44.1 as default, which is what is needed on NG

make sure its not a .wav or something that you tried to change the name of and make it a .mp3, cuz that wont work, its got to actually be an .mp3

Are you trying to be an a-hole? I haven't used this site before, and I am a DJ. I take control at about a big party a week and I use iTunes only. I'm just the guy that start the music, I haven't submit it to forums like I have just started doing.

and it should also be only 16-bit.

meaning, most the site will accept is about an 8-minute track. essentially, not a place to try and drop mixes, if that was your intent.

I'd add a constructive comment, but it doesn't much simpler than what others have said before me. .mp3, less than 8 MB, and sampled at 44.1 Hz.

I've been submitting audio files to this site for a couple years now and haven't had a problem. Now I'm trying to submit a piece that is about 15 minutes long, requiring me to diminish the bitrate to fit it in under 8 MB. However, even though the sampling rate is still set at 44.1, it fails to recognize my file as a valid mp3. The bitrate is set to 64 instead of 128, but there is no stated bitrate requirement on the portal. Is there one anyway?

well, to be quite honest, i used virtual dj once to remix one of my own songs and the mp3 file was invalid there too, personally i just think its a glitch...

I'm pretty sure there isn't one. I've posted songs with a multitude of bit rates in order to decrease size with out loosing to much quality. I've even input my own bit rate some at something like 87 or 95 or 141.

Also, as an iTune user you should know that can also convert files, also to mp3.
