As most of you have heard by now, the Haitian dictator Jean-Bertrand Aristide has fled the country, in fear for his own life. I believe that he is now somewhere in South Africa, in a self-imposed exile.
There are varying reports about the circumstances in which he came to leave the country, but his own explanation is quite interesting (bizzare, really); Aristide is now claiming that U.S. agents forced him to leave Part-au-prince, the Haitian capital, in a coup. Read more...
I would like to know something... why would the U.S. willingly help a dictator like Aristede flee his country when:
Mr Powell reportedly let Mr Aristide know the US would not protect him if rebels captured the Haitian capital, the Associated Press (AP) news agency said.
It just doesn't make sense.

one small gitch in the orignal statement that he was a dictator, yes at one point in time he was but at the time of his now exile from Haiti he was a democraticly elected leader of the nation. the most vocal leader of one of the rebel groups Philipe i think thats his name not sure, has been charged or is suspected of comiting past human rights violations. it is in this situation nessasary that the US anlong with the Canadians and the French to go in and help keep some form of order in the nation untill they have the next election.

It was just better for everyone to have that guy leave. By leaving he helped his citizens avoid even more fighting and by helping the US was able to keep him from becoming a martyr for his supporters to continue fighting for.

Aristide was the first democratically elected leader of Haiti, sad how it ends like this. Of course im not at all saying Aristie was a good man, I mean Reagan was elected democratically and hes a fascist.
It just looks like slavery is still showing negtive effects today in Haiti. I can only hope Guy Phillipe is a decent man

How in the blue hell does slavery play a role in this?

I don't know about decent, smart is more like it. The moment the marines showed up, he instructed his men to lay down arms.

You also must have heard how Aristide is Blaming the Us for forcing him out...... And the Award for 'Stupidest Man of the Century' goes to.....Aristide! For Blaming the Us for saving his sorry ass.

Iraq's not more screwed up, Iraq is a paradise now. The women are liberated and they all get free healthcare and totally new infrastructure.

And don't even start lying about how we are losing troops overseas. If you've been watching those damn liberal stations like BBC, you'd think everything over there is messed up horrible. However, if you watch Fox and (the award-winning) O'Reilly Factor, you would see that everything over there is 1000 times better since we invaded.

Exactly. Why does everyone hate America? Here's a good source that isn't filled with liberal treason: http://www.georgewbush.com/News/
