Augh! Vanguard Or Z3ta+ ?!?!?!?! Dec. 25th, 2009 @ 10:32 PM Reply

Ok, I REALLY need a new VST, and I wanna either get z3ta+ or Vanguard. I like them both.
Opinions? Please?

I have both but with z3ta I'm limited to presets just cuz I'm too retarded to understand the settings O_O
Vanguard is easier in that respect.

Then again z3ta sounds better, imo.

Manual?????

Z3ta is way better than Vanguard, in my experience anything made with vanguard sounds thin, no matter WHAT you do.

of course I'm talking PRE fx, but feel free to prove me wrong =)

I've noticed, just from presets that z3ta+ sounds ALOT better, compared to vanguard's. But, I just didn't know whether or not I could create my own sounds in Vanguard that sounded better than the presets, which aren't that great.

I have both z3ta+ and Vanguard, and trust me, z3ta+ beats it by a landslide. To start with, z3ta+ has WAY more presets than Vanguard, and not only that, but the all sound much better than Vanguard's. Secondly, z3ta+ has much much more capabilities than Vanguard and what you can do with Vanguard can surely be done quicker and better on z2ta+. Finally, Vanguard's window is way too big... :P

Still, Vanguard is MUCH simpler, and if you don't like long and tedious trial and improvement to find out how to make sounds, then z3ta+ isn't for you.

Zeta if you want an all-in-one solution with alot of room for automation and crazy LFO morphing capability.

Vanguard if you want simple but powerful sounds.

Personally, if you're just starting out learning how to program synths, go with Vanguard as it is so much easier to learn on and toy with. Then, by the time you've xhausted what you can do on Vanguard, you'll be ready to step up to Zeta.

I'd actually also recommend checking out V station and BLUE for anyone looking for something interesting to play with.

I had both of these until I got a new computer and lost my serials. They were great. Predator is really good too.

I've not used z3ta+ very much, but I have used Vanguard enough to know it is not a very good synth compared to the other things out there.

Actually, that's pretty much my opinion. Mixer effects can do so much to a simple waveform. But they can't do everything, which is why we have Sytrus. I think Z3ta+ is a bit overrated.

Well, true enough, 3XOSC has many capabilities, but there some things you just cant do, even with mixing.

And 3xOSC has aliasing problems. Which is not a big deal if you're looking for that gritty, almost analog kind of noise architecture. But if not, then it's gonna get pretty obvious when you start layering on the phasers, chorusing, flange, etc. to mold the sound.
