Kids are spoiled these days... 2009-12-24 01:34:22 Reply

So I was at Best Buy, trying to play DJ Hero with some kid there. Ended up not working because you know those machines never work for some reason. Anyways, I overheard the kid I was playing with talking to the kid he was with, who seemed like 10, the kid seemed like 13.

The 13ish year old asked, what are you getting for Christmas (To the other kid) He responded with "A PS3". As if it was nothing. Now I know it was a small incident, but I know other people, and I've heard people who get like flat screen TVs and expensive console for Christmas, but a 10 year old just flat out getting a $400 PS3? Come on.

My opinion is; kids are pretty much spoiled. I celebrate Christmas and all, but I'd usually be lucky to get money thrown at me at the least. This year I bought my own presents and wrapped them myself, for myself. Kinda pathetic, but I felt it was a solid year for me. I only spent like $20.

Anyways, long story short. Kids suck these days. They're too spoiled. Anyone else agree?

yeah, kids are totally not cool guys. Why do we keep building them and importing them from china again?

They just aren't worth it, and it's nearly imposable to find a mechanic to get any repairs done. You can find plenty of children filling up the junk yards and empty lots of this country. Because no one wants them.

It's a sad but fictional truth people. And yet nobody heeds my warning, not even when we find ourselves at the brink of civilization.

I get a decent amount of presents during Christmas, and I'm very thankful for that. I never ask for too much because I don't take the holiday for granted and see it as only gifts. There is more to Christmas than presents, believe it or not. Today my friend told me she was getting a PS3 like it was no big deal, complete with a shitload of other stuff too.

Ehh... Yes... I'm talking about like 5 years ago though, but hokay. I don't really see if you're insulting me or just saying facts.

Music store I work at, kids walk in with there and daddy buys them a brand new $700 guitar. The first few times this kind of thing happened, I would ask if he wanted the action adjusted, or if he wanted a different pair of strings and what size, ect. I figured that if the munchkin is getting such a nice piece of equipment, he must be decently experienced. But after a few confused looks and explanations that this was Bobby's first guitar, I stopped.

It's bloody SAD the things that some rich kids get. The buggers grow up with everything they could ever want just dropped into their laps. The thing is though, when they grow up they don't have work ethic and they end up begging for spare change in the city centre.

Um, maybe its a $299 PS3. Lol, still spoiled either way, now that 10 year old kid can play all the rated M shooters out there, dissing people online with his shrill little voice. Lol, nice.

I agree 100%. I'm only 14 and I'm only getting 3 video games this Christmas. And I'm also getting some money from my aunts too. But my cousins are getting laptops, 50 video games iPods. It's fucking brutal.

All I want for Christmas is a Record Player(I'm a Vinyl lover), and yes I do agree that a lot of kids are prety spoiled nowadays.

Last Christmas I got a 250$ Guitar, but my Mom and Grandparents put their money together to get me it. I play it every day, for music is my life. That douchebag kid probably tried his expensive Guitar once, and now it's laying in his room collected dust next to some awesome drum set that he got last year.

(Sigh) I die a little inside everytime I think about it

Well, Jamoke locked my thread, so here it is reposted here:

I'm sick of people calling kids spoiled. Some times it's true, when they get over $1000 in shit they'll outgrow in 2 years, but getting a good $200, which your parents should be able to make in a day, is not asking for much.
I just expect a few games, maybe an electronic if my parents want to be generous, but that's not spoiled! I always thank my parents to death, and am always grateful,
People tend to pull the "Well some kids don't get Christmas, lololo". My response to that is, "...Well, what do you want me to do about it?" The majority of the people who pull that shit don't do a damn thing themselves, and get about as much as the next average teen.

Eh, it more the parent are allowing the kids to be spoiled. You don't have spoiled kids if the parents strict and have some discipline.

I would say...partly I agree. There are some kids out there that are really thankful for what the parents get them. One of them has to be my brother, I got him like Modern Warfare 2 for his birthday and he just was really really happy and started to be much nicer to me and my friends.

Also I have a couple of things that I really appreciate that my parents gave me, like my ipod, ps3 and Xbox360. And I thank them everyday for getting me those things. But that is just me, I am sure there are a couple of more kids that are grateful for their parents giving them what they want.

Yeah, I know.

Some asshole who can't play guitar in my school has this golden guitar along with 5 others. He can't even play the Star Spangled Banner right and he acts like he's better at it than me?

Hell no.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.
I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

The beginner version. Not the Hendrix version.

You are an idiot. Think about the long run, when the kids have got everything they can point a finger at. Will they become productive citizens that know their place in life? No. They will drop out of school, start doing drugs and rob people, because they were taught that they can get everything they want with no work towards it at all.

i'm getting a couple of new cymbals, a boom stand head and a clamp. And thats a big one, i had to build my drum kit from the ground up, nobody bought me nothing. Then i got a job and bought a decent kit.

But your right, kids (and i mean younger kids, i'm still a kid just an older one) don't understand the value of a pound (dollar).

There are some spoiled kids out there.
It gets on my nerves when they start talking about money and such like it grows off trees.
Thankfully I was raised a wee bit different.

No, you are the idiot, everyone knows that Christmas is a time for giving and receiving, and just because drugs are common now it doesn't meen that ever dropout is going to be a drug addict, also the rich people are actually usually the dropouts, it gives them at least two years ahead of some people and an extra 4 more on the people that go to college or uni, as long as they are motivated to do something with there lifes...

I do agree. The entire consumerist season just gets on my nerves. I mean it's not so bad where I live now, but where I lived before it was so busy at Christmas that doing anything was just impossible. Walking around was like an obstacle course because of all the busybodies zipping about.

I've bought some good quality chocolates and stuff for my family this year and that's it.
