3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI have played old and new games like LoZ, Goldeneye, Halo 3 and Modern warfare 2. Im not saying halo and CoD Are better but they sure are much more fun (or at least for me). But I dont know how a game is good or not. Is there some sort of list of things it needs? Like needs a intresting gameplay with not so repetive features, a good story (I dont know what makes a story good or not either) and all those things. Of course a game cant be prefect for everyone because of there opinion but doesnt mean the game aint perfect. But this also means just because a game is not perfect doesnt mean it aint fun. I dont need to hear about what games you think are great and why some are shit but tell me what makes a game good and give examples.

well yeah but lots of people play MW2 and WoW so wouldnt they be the best games because they were the majority of the opinions. The game can be good for you but not a good game. Like if your a pyhco and there was a game for killing puppys , sure its good for you but it aint a good game.

Modern Warfare 2 is "good" due to all the 12 year olds with nothing better to do.
World of Warcraft is "good" because the governments in the Asian countries don't allow Asians to buy any other game.
For an RPG: Voice actors need to at least try to do their lines with some feeling. Your character should be customizable. The plot should be original, not "The world is engulfed by darkness and it's your destiny to stop it". The characters should all have an original backstory, it's pretty annoying that in so many games, the guy you play as is some 10 to 17 year old whose parent(s) were killed. It has to seem easy but not so easy that you can beat it in an hour. It has to be challenging, but not so challenging that it seems like all you're really doing is wandering aimlessly through a field until you fluke you way to the next whatever.

You just answered your own question. Game quality depends on opinion. Take your example about the killing puppies game; the psycho might like the game, but you however, have a negative opinion of the game. While there are characteristics that many would find positive in a game (good story, solid controls, etc.), some may find that trait to be bad.

The type of people who play a game does not affect how good the game is. if a bunch of kids played braid would that make it a bad game? Besides many boys at that age are into shooting war games so its not surprising you would see them in any shooter.

No, it's because of the massive amounts of people who play the game. There are a lot of 12 year olds with free time on their hands.
I'd say:
- Good gameplay.
- Good story (if you're doing the campaign)
- Replayability.
- Good controls.
- Online multiplayer.

That was the question I was asking but a little deeper on what makes the story/gameplay good?

1 word: opinions. I fucking hate halo 3 with a passion. others love it with a passion. I fucking love l4d2, others want to burn all the copies in huge bonfires.
So then why the hell cant the people of this site realise that? I see most of you dislike games by your opinion but now theres people starting to dislike the people who play these games.

- Lots of maps/levels that aren't too long but aren't super-short either. Also, they should be a little more open and not as linear.
- Lots of customization options, editing, and freedom to allow the player to either seriously go after mission objectives, or just screw around as they please.
- Awesome soundtrack that's catchy and really fits the pace and setting of the game.
- Lots of unlocks that are actually good and not impossible to get.
- Lots of weapons/classes/abilities. Variety is the spice of life, and the more there are, the better.
- Decent graphics that don't sacrifice gameplay just for a better look.
- Decent multiplayer that requires an even balance of both teamwork and skill. Should also prevent spawnkilling, glitching, and have a very strong anti-hack/cheat system going on. Also, classes/weapons should be evenly balanced as much as possible.
Don't pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.
