Remixing Software Dec. 22nd, 2009 @ 10:16 AM Reply

I'm looking for a great program, free and easy to download. No trials, like FL Studio or Acid Pro. Just free.

Thanks... :3

Audacity can be used for remixes, that's totally free.

I agree whit Audacity, but heres a tip: do not upload it to newgrounds when your done, you will be banned, i suggest you start making your own songs using a free program like LMMS

Are you sure you're not allowed to do remixes on here?

I've seen some one doing a remix of Poker Face - Lady Gaga and they didn't get banned, they got on the front page of the audio portal. I think because it's a non-commercial licence that you can remix what you like.

I don't know for sure though...

Is
LMMS safe? I don't have an antivirus, so I won't download it unless I find it safe.

thats when u use audacity (if you download LAME ecoder) or you could use http://www.mediaconverter.org/

you upload and download the file after the site is done (takes a couple of minuttes)

It depends on whether or not the material you are sampling is free-to-use. If in doubt, don't do it - just because a vocal track can be downloaded for free does not mean you can redistribute it in your own songs.

Well, there is an EXPORT AS .WAV, so I hit that, and none of my programs OR Media Convertor reads it.

Also, reaper is free (although it says it's a demo). Depending on how deep you want to go with your remixing, you could simply use virtualdj to just mesh a couple songs together, or get into a whole remake of the song with a DAW.

Strychnine and cyanide. A healthy part of this complete breakfast.

Audacity is pretty useful. It has a lot of functions and completely free.
Btw., FL Studio is not a trial.

This is what I think is allowed on NG...

You're allowed to remix songs as long as they're not using copyrighted samples, or just a MIDI file with instruments only changed. Also, if you remix something using an Audio Editor such as Audacity, you're not allowed to upload it. It has to be made by a DAW from scratch without the use of copyrighted samples. Correct me if I'm wrong...

And yeah, as the guy above me said, FL Studio isn't a trial, it's a demo. You can use it as long as you want, but you can't save your project fies to open next time.

I wouldnt say Virtual DJ is a good idea, unless you know exactly what you are doing, you cant really call it remixing, and its not free.
