I'm not saying that people aren't allowed to enjoy this movie. If you like this movie, then that's great. People have different tastes, it just wasn't for me.
Just found an interesting article that discusses the film's "white guilt" story and compares it to the many other similar movies that use the same premise.

triple post, sorry.
Newgrounds needs an edit button.
at this point the topic has reached a level of absurdity that will forever derail the avatar discussion.
I don't fucking get the link button on this website, and there's no edit button. Other forums are superior.
I'm going to fail linking it for a 6th time.

I actualy liked it alot, i dont get what your saying about it not having a real plot. sure the plot was bassicly cowboys vurses indians sifi version but it was an interesting concept the they could connect to other beings and the world with there mind.
Stay Awesome!

I'm with this man. It hooked me from start to finish, all while intensifying my already unfathomable hatred of the human race. I won't go into details about that as not to spoil.. but this was one damn good story. The actors did a great job with their roles, and I was completely immersed the entire time. I truly fell in love with the Na'vi and wish I could have my own avatar only to become one with it through the Tree of Souls. They were such beautiful beings.
I fucking hate all of you.
AVATAR WAS BEAUTIFUL

I FELT THE CONNECTION WITH THE CHARACTERS. I COULD FEEL THEIR PAIN!!!!!!!! THATS HOW GOOD IT WAS.

do i sense sarcasm
mutha fuckin pochantas in space.
didnt see the last 30 minutes thanks to the po po, and i heard it's better in 3d...

I completely agree.
Shame you thought it sucked. I thought it was awesome.
yea, the story isn't original we seen it in dances with wolfs and the last samurai
but i still fucking loved the movie in overall, it was really appealing to the eyes
all the environment and the na vi, that movie is defently in my top 10
I saw it , thought it was a visual feast for the eyes.
Frank's just mad because he has a new blue fetish now.

Yeah, you got to hand it out to ol' James, the Na'vi look absolutely goregeous. Their culture too, is nice.
Damn, I wish I was a Na'vi right now. Fuck cars and computers, as long as I'm blue, have a tail, am 10 feet tall, and superior in power and agility to any human.
That movie was fantastic, 10/10. Beautiful plot, pocahowhatever or not. The body design on the Na'vi was also my ideal, so I ended up with this silent, making bullhorns with my hands kind of movie at the fight scenes. Cried at the bombings.
Loved that shit. Good as Shawshank, Risky Business, all the greats.
Peacocks are the best animal.
I watched the movie with a buddy earlier today.
Nothing is exaggeration:
Between my friend and myself we predicted the ENTIRE movie.
I mean every scene, one of us would call something (sometimes 20-30 minutes before) and we were never wrong.
The sci-fi was decent but the fantasy/faggy shit completely killed it.
The Love story added a lot to my animosity.
To those of you who said "sci-fi pochahontas" you hit the nail right on the head.
Toward the end, the movie began to redeem itself with the action scenes... but with its complete predictable nature.... well lets just say it was more fun imagining it before it happened than it was actually watching it.
I'd give it a 5/10, because the movie was not bad.... it was just.... okay yea... i thought it sucked.
someone that uses "faggy" as a way to describe a movie doesn't deserve to watch it.
Disgusting ignorant prick.
I'm going to see this on Boxing Day in 3D. How exactly do 3D films work? Do you get a pair of spectacles?
Sup?
see this is why idiots shouldnt get there hopes up.
Death cures a fool
My opinions are pretty much the same as everyone elses in this thread. The story was nothing special or original, but the effects were badass.
Good gracious. My ass is bodacious. I had no idea!
Why was I not informed of my spanktacular backside?
Eh? Don't make me lay waste to your cities!

Well, if you take the glasses off you'll see two images close to each other..this means that the 3D effect is created by simulating pretty much what the eyes do..apparently it's called the stereoscopical effect or something (one eye sees a different image from the other, and when the two come together they give you the sense of depth)...although three hours of 3D may make your eyes burn...it's not perfect yet (sometimes the characters look like cardboard figures) but it's certainly impressive...
Oh yeah, and about the movie: it has SOME cliches, some good ideas, but the actual story is a bit childish if you think of it (unforseen help, the final battle is between the hero and the villain, the hero falls in love with the first Na'vi girl he meets, and more stuff like that), but it's still a very impressive movie that could be described as a Dances with Wolves+Pocahontas on an alien world and with lots of explosions.
If you're looking for an intellectual movie with deep characters and intruguing story, then you won't like it, but if you just want to watch a cool action movie then go for it, it's worth it.
Also, can't wait to see the "making of"
(sorry about the wall of text)
